🚒 ROLLOVER CRASH 🚑

Today at 2:26 PM, Norfolk Fire and Police responded to North St for a motor vehicle rollover. Crews arrived to find a vehicle on its roof and a snapped utility pole.

The operator was transported by Norfolk Ambulance 3 to a trauma center with Advanced Life Support care provided by our paramedics. While crews operated at the crash, C2 handled another emergency incident in town.

Yesterday, Norfolk Fire responded to two serious motor vehicle crashes, in addition to numerous other emergency calls throughout the day.

At approximately 8:50 AM, crews responded to the intersection of Seekonk Street and Fruit Street for a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash. A Millis ambulance also responded to assist. The patient was transported to a Boston-area trauma center for further treatment. We would like to thank Millis Fire Department for providing mutual aid while Norfolk Ambulance 3 was committed to another medical emergency.

At approximately 8:04 PM, crews responded to Rockwood Road for a motor vehicle rollover. Crews arrived to find a vehicle off the roadway that had rolled over and landed on its roof. Fortunately, no injuries occurred as a result of the crash. Crews remained on scene while awaiting the arrival of Eversource due to a damaged utility pole and downed wires. Thank you to Eversource and Norfolk Department of Public Works for a quick response.

Today marks 25 years since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. As we reflect on that tragic day, we remember the thousands of innocent people who lost their lives. Each victim was someone’s family member, friend, coworker, and loved one.

We also remember the first responders who ran toward danger without hesitation to help their fellow Americans. Their sacrifice, courage, and unwavering commitment to duty will never be forgotten.

We extend our sincere thanks to our community for taking the time today to join us in honoring and remembering all those who were lost on September 11. We also remember the countless first responders, survivors, and others who continue to face cancer and other illnesses as a result of the events of that day.

Twenty-five years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Norfolk Firefighters participated in the Foxborough Firefighters Bowl a Strike against Muscular Dystrophy fundraiser tournament today.

Norfolk Firefighters took advantage of the nice weather today to conduct drafting operations at City Mills Pond.

Firefighters drafted water from the pond, and supplied hose lines and the deck gun. Training on water supply and drafting operations helps ensure our crews are prepared to establish an effective water source when operating in areas without access to a municipal water supply.

Regular hands-on training helps keep our crews prepared and ready to respond when our community needs us.

🚑 ALS ADVANCEMENT 🏥

Over the last several weeks, members of the Norfolk Fire Department have been completing in-service training on our new Sapphire IV infusion pumps, which have been placed into service on our ambulances.

IV infusion pumps allow your paramedics to deliver medications with a high degree of accuracy and consistency—an important capability when caring for some of our sickest and most critically ill patients. These medications may be used to support blood pressure, cardiac function, and other vital functions during transport to the hospital.

The addition of these pumps represents a significant increase in our ability to provide high-level advanced life support care in the prehospital setting, particularly during longer transports when critically ill patients may require ongoing medication infusions and close management.

Our current medication library has been built around the medications carried and authorized for use today, but the Sapphire platform also gives us the ability to safely expand the medications and therapies we can provide in the future as protocols and our system continue to evolve.

We’re proud of our members for the time they have put into training and preparing for this new equipment and for their continued commitment to providing the highest level of emergency medical care to our community.

Thank you to Firefighter/Paramedic Luke Barney, who serves as the departments EMS Director. Luke worked hard to train Norfolk Fire Paramedics on these IV infusion pumps.
