Norfolk Police arrested a man on outstanding warrants and additional charges, including first-degree false imprisonment and possession of methamphetamine, after responding to a residence.

On October 22, 2026, the Norfolk Police Division responded to a reported domestic violence incident at a residence in the 800 block of South 2nd Street.

The report indicated that Lukas T. Ironthunder, 25, of Norfolk, was armed with a knife and preventing a female at the residence from leaving.

Officers confirmed Ironthunder had active Madison County warrants for terroristic threats and third-degree domestic assault. After initial attempts to contact occupants were unsuccessful, officers established a perimeter with assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol.

Officers subsequently breached the rear door to enter the residence. Ironthunder then exited through the front door, complied with officers’ commands, and was taken into custody without incident. A knife was recovered from him.

Ironthunder was arrested on the outstanding warrants and additional charges of first-degree false imprisonment and possession of methamphetamine. He was initially housed in the Norfolk City Jail before being transferred to the Madison County Jail.

We're taking you back nearly 45 years to October 23, 1981, at 13th Street and Benjamin Avenue in Norfolk!

Check out the old cars, how much the area has changed, and especially the officer in the background sporting those classic baby blue uniforms! 👮‍♂️

We've got a question for you, Norfolk...

👕 Should we bring back the baby blues, or leave that fashion statement in 1981? 😂

And for our longtime Norfolk residents, how many of you remember when 13th and Benjamin looked like this?

🚌🚨 SCHOOL BUS STOP VIOLATIONS — WE'RE WATCHING! 🚨🚌

We've received reports of motorists illegally passing a stopped school bus in the 1700 block of West Benjamin Avenue during the afternoon drop-off around 3:15 p.m.

Some drivers are reportedly using the center turn lane to go around the bus while its red lights are flashing and stop arm is extended.

Let's be perfectly clear: A center turn lane is NOT a free pass around a stopped school bus!

👮 Norfolk Police officers will be conducting extra enforcement in this area. We're giving everyone fair warning!

💰 The cost of illegally passing a stopped school bus in Nebraska:

$500 fine
$95 in court costs
$595 total
3 points on your driver's license
Class IV misdemeanor
That's a pretty expensive shortcut — and putting a child's life at risk is far worse.

We're also sharing our school bus safety video from the beginning of the school year as a reminder of when drivers are required to stop.

When those red lights flash and that stop arm comes out, STOP. No excuses. No shortcuts.

Our children's safety is worth a few extra seconds.

A 32-year-old man was arrested for methamphetamine possession Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at approximately 10:27 p.m., Norfolk Police Officers responded to a disturbance in the parking lot of the Norfolk Police Division.

Upon arrival, officers contacted Jeremy D. Odom, 32, who reported he had been involved in an argument with two individuals at his residence and drove to the police station to get away from the situation.

During the contact, officers discovered Odom had a suspended driver’s license and a non-extraditable warrant out of New Mexico. With Odom’s consent, officers conducted a search and checked the contents of his pockets. During the search, officers located a small clear straw with burn marks on both ends containing a white crystalline substance.

The substance tested positive for methamphetamine. Odom denied knowing what the straw contained and stated the pants he was wearing belonged to another individual.

Odom was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.

A woman was airlifted to an Omaha hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening after a vehicle struck a power pole late Friday night.

On October 16, 2026, at approximately 10:43 p.m., Norfolk 911 Dispatch received an automated iPhone crash notification reporting an injury accident near 1020 East Omaha Avenue. Norfolk Police and Norfolk Rescue responded to the scene.

The investigation determined that a vehicle traveling northbound in the 1300–1400 block of South Victory Road left the roadway, struck a power pole, and slid down the west flood control embankment, coming to rest near the lower sidewalk.

Upon arrival, officers found an adult female passenger suffering from head and facial injuries.

The female, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported by air ambulance to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

The male driver had left the scene before officers arrived. Officers used a drone to search the surrounding area but were unsuccessful in locating the driver. Open alcohol containers were found inside the vehicle.

The Nebraska State Patrol, Norfolk Fire and the Stanton County Sheriff’s office assisted in the investigation.

The accident remains under investigation.
