In September, 1998 a group of parents and staff from Health and Human Resources met to prepare a grant to fund Parent to Parent Network. Through these efforts a grant application was submitted and accepted for the development of a family organization in Region IV. In May of 2000, Parent to Parent Network received their 501(c)3 status and became incorporated as a non-profit organization. Since then, Parent to Parent has expanded their staff to include an Executive Director, Family Coordinator, Family Care Partners and a Wrap Fidelity Index Evaluator. Parent to Parent Network is a non-profit organization created by and for families that reside in Northeast Nebraska and who are raising, or are primary caregivers for, children with behavioral/emotional challenges including social, emotional, mental, substance abuse and gambling. Vision
We believe children and their families can be successful and families/caregivers are the experts on their children’s needs and should be the main-decision-makers for their children. We understand the struggles and barriersn that parents face when accessing services and supports for their children in schools, the “system” and in their own communities because we too, have children with unique needs. We understand the importance of being able to talk to a nonjudgmental person who understands the challenges we face at home, with schools and in the community. We are dedicated to strengthening and empowering families by providing access to resources, support, advocacy and education.

Remember "Kids say the darndest things?"
Well, the sentiment is still the same today.
Honesty isn't always sunshine and rainbows.
Thus, children often get reprimanded for their honesty.
But why?...

Museums can be a fun excursion and very educational. Once again, it depends on the passion behind the teaching. Paint a picture for them. Show, don't tell. Talk about the people who made the artifact. Humanize History.
"The people who made this vase were like you and me, but they lived thousands of years ago."

Grandparents play a vital part in our child's lives and upbringing, as long as they stay in their lane and not take too much control. If they can't be in the picture, that's understandable. Just know that you are missing an ingredient. If your child were, say, a cake, the Grandparents are the Sugar. You can have a cake without Sugar, but it won't be nearly as good.

Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it. We need to teach our children the history of our nation and our world. If done correctly, it's actually a very exciting subject. Children will be able to detect the teacher's passion on the subject and will be more likely to learn if that passion is greater than if it is less.

Getting judged by your child is inevitable. No matter how good a parent you are... They will be more likely to forgive you if you spend time with them and listen to them.

Dance is art and physical expression. Dance is also a good workout. Encourage your children to dance, or just be silly. Sometimes silly movement is just as good.

Like it or not, everyone who passes through our lives or our children's lives leaves a mark; good or bad. For better or for worse. We can mitigate the negative aspects of this as parents by talking with our children. Balance the negative interactions with an overwhelming amount of positive ones.
