🚧 REMINDER: North Landing Bridge repairs begin next week!

North Landing Bridge will close to vehicle traffic at 12 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, and will remain closed through Oct. 26 while crews perform repairs. The bridge will not be open for morning traffic on Oct. 5. Please plan your route accordingly and allow additional travel time.

The bridge will remain open to maritime traffic during the repair period.

Following the September 2026 Nor’easter, Norfolk District is continuing coastal assessments and supporting recovery efforts.

Storms can visibly reshape beaches, but visible erosion does not necessarily mean a nourishment project failed to perform as designed. Initial observations indicate that recently completed nourishment areas absorbed storm impacts, while dunes and berms generally remained intact.

USACE Norfolk District, along with Miami-Dade Environment are here in Miami-Dade County to tour the critical infrastructure facilities that are being proposed to floodproof as part of the Miami-Dade Back Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study Phase II.

Following the recent nor’easter, Norfolk District’s debris team is out on the water.

Working from the Motor Vessel HUME, the crew began collecting storm debris from the harbor Sept. 28. So far, they have recovered six large objects totaling approximately 5,400 pounds of drift.

Operations are expected to continue through the week as the team works to clear debris from the waterway.

🦟 **Craney Island aerial mosquito treatment**

Aerial mosquito treatment is scheduled for **Wednesday, Sept. 30**, with **Thursday, Oct. 1, as the backup date**.

Eastern Aviation LLC will use a helicopter to apply herbicide targeting mosquito habitat on federal property at Craney Island.

Aerial mosquito treatment over the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area (CIDMMA) is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 15, with a backup date of Wednesday, Sept. 16.

The treatment targets developing mosquito larvae and uses a product that does not affect bees.
