We are SO excited to share that Ms. Crowley is our 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year!

Ms. Crowley is a champion for her students! She leads her classroom with love and deep care. She has high expectations for learning and continues to research best practices to further their growth. If your child is a car rider, you know Ms. Crowley has been rockin’ outside duty for years.

We love Ms. Crowley and all she does for IKE!

Today was SO much fun! These pictures don’t even capture all the smiles we saw all day long. Our healthy choice was eating healthy! It’s so important to fuel our young learners with the right things they need to grow and develop. Think unprocessed foods, water, protein, veggies, and fruits. We went with the old saying, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” today and picked apples in our orchard and enjoyed the fresh fall air.

A HUGE THANK YOU to so many!

- Crest Foods for Apple donations
- Harris family for the use of their truck
- Somer Williams for her trailer
- Wildwood Community Church for the hay
- Nixon Family for storing the hay
- Our Watchdog John Haley, Mrs. Haines, Mrs. Maynard and Mr. Curtis for helping all day
- Eisenhower PTA for helping us set up super early!

Crazy sock day is always a hit! Don’t forget to wear the color of your favorite fruit of veggie tomorrow.

Our healthy theme of the day was “Cougars walk away from unhealthy choices.” Our students discussed medicine safety. Medicines, vitamins, and supplements are a great tool to help us feel better, but it’s important to only take them under adult supervision.

Home Safety Tips:
- Store medicines, supplements, and vitamins out of reach and in a dry place. Preferably in a place that locks.

- Watch guest belongings! Remind visitors to keep medications in a safe place. (For household pets & kiddos alike)

- Put it away immediately! Don’t leave them out on the counter.

- Never refer to it as “candy.” Though this tactic may help to get a child to take it, this can be confusing.

Healthy Choices Week is October 26-30th!

During that week, students will learn about ways to keep their minds and bodies healthy. Pre-k through 2nd grade will be learning about effects of screen time on their brains and medicine safety. 3rd grade through 5th grade will have a fact based lesson about drugs, alcohol and va**ng affect our bodies with Ms. Andrews during Health Choices week. If you have any questions regarding any lessons being taught during Healthy Choices/Red Ribbon Week please reach out to Ms. Andrews.

One easy step adults can take toward prevention efforts is to decrease youth access to dangerous substances and weapons. We encourage families to register for a Child Safety Kit which can include a medical lockbox and fi***rm lock. Register here: https://bit.ly/3VwKoJD

The Sequoyah Read Around is one of our favorite IKE Traditions!

Pairs of 5th graders read a book off of the Sequoyah Reading List and create short presentations to give to our 3rd & 4th graders. This leaves them excited to head to the library for their next read!

Want to see the list too? We’ve got you! The list is carefully selected by a group of Oklahoma librarians, one of which is our own Mrs. Kreft!
