Our lack of abundant and affordable homes is partly a policy choice from Harrisburg. Good news: Montgomery County recently increased its incentives around homeownership grants 👇

“So, how do you like being a homeowner?” my dad asked during a recent visit to Pottstown. In addition to celebrating his 72nd birthday, we attempted to tackle a crawlspace insulation project under my kitchen (Update: What I thought was DIY will likely require hiring a professional). Back to answ...

Residents in manufactured homes communities deserve better. Tell the PA Senate to act!

Residents in manufactured homes communities deserve better. Tell the PA Senate to act!

It is clear that new protections are needed in PA to protect residents of manufactured homes from predatory increases in rent.

Last year, I introduced legislation to create a watchdog office – called the Office of Manufactured Housing Ombudsman – to look out for residents’ interests and provide a structured appeal process.

While my bill, House Bill 2098, hasn’t moved to the floor for a vote, the good news is that Sen. Steve Santarsiero introduced a similar ombudsman bill in the Senate. However, clock is ticking in this session for both bills, which would help address part of our housing affordability crisis. We also need the PA Senate to pass House Bill 1250 (lot rent caps) before the 2025-26 House calendar ends or it will need to start the process all over again.
