Deadline Extended: Northern Berkshire, your voice still matters!

The deadline for the North Berkshire Educational Sustainability Study (NBESS) survey has been extended to Sunday, November 1.

NBESS is still gathering input from across Hoosac Valley, Mount Greylock, North Adams Public Schools, and the Northern Berkshire School Union (Clarksburg, Florida, and Savoy). If you haven’t taken the survey yet, there’s still time. Let's help them exceed 2,000 responses!

This survey is for everyone with a stake in our schools:

Current students, former students, and alumni
Parents and caregivers
Current and former educators and staff
School committee members, select board members, and other officials
NBESS steering committee members
Community members who live or work in the area

A few quick things to know:

It takes just 7-10 minutes
Responses are anonymous, so please share openly
This is a Phase I study, so no decisions have been made. The goal is to listen, understand where our districts stand, and identify opportunities for collaboration worth exploring.
At the end, you can sign up for a 45-60 minute focus group or for project email updates

🎨 Big news for young artists in North Adams! 🎨

Thanks to a new two-year grant from the W.L.S. Spencer Foundation and a partnership with the Clark, the UNO Drop-in Art Club is expanding from a summer program into a 50-week offering!

📅 When: Every Wednesday, 3–5 p.m.
📍 Where: UNO Community Center, 157 River Street, North Adams

Every week, kids can create art inspired by the Clark’s exhibits. Snacks and materials are provided free of charge. The program has already kicked off, so come on by anytime!

🚌 The grant also provides free transportation to and from the Clark’s First Sundays Free program and Annual Community Day.

Please note: children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult or caregiver.

🎓 Student voices leading the way! 🎓

Today, our Drury Portrait of a Graduate student leaders visited Abbott Memorial School on Florida Mountain to kick off a big conversation: What does it take to be an “ideal learner?”

Together, students explored the Berkshire Portrait of a Graduate competencies, the skills and mindsets we hope every graduate carries into college, career, and life:

Our Drury students loved working alongside Florida Mountain students, and next week they’ll reunite to host the Student Voice Summit! 🙌

At the Summit, students will share what makes learning meaningful to them and what they envision for their futures. 🌟

Today, our Drury Portrait of a Graduate student leaders visited Clarksburg grades 6-8 to preview the upcoming Student Voice Summit and ask Clarksburg students a big question: What makes an “ideal learner”?

Our Drury students loved working alongside their Clarksburg peers, and in just a couple of weeks, they’ll reunite to host the Student Voice Summit for grades 6-8! 🙌

At the Summit, students will share their ideas about what makes learning meaningful to them and what they envision for their own futures. 🌟

We can’t wait to hear what they have to say!
