During Harold G. Fearn’s 18-year tenure (1954-1972), West Aurora School District made many new additions and improvements, a lot of these are still around today. The following schools and buildings were built during his tenure: Hope D. Wall, Washington, Jefferson, Smith, Schneider, McCleery, Hall, Goodwin, and the football stadium at West High. The administration office for West Aurora School District was moved to Downtown Aurora, which allowed the rapidly growing school district to expand and make more improvements for the students and community. Also, many school and district buildings were renovated or expanded. Harold G. Fearn was very dedicated to West Aurora and even developed relationships with other community programs, like the Fox Valley Park District.

🥕 Look out, Crackenhopper Field—there are creepy carrots on the loose! 🥕👀

After learning all about author Aaron Reynolds in Mrs. Buell’s LRT class, our creative 1st graders brought his iconic story to life by crafting their very own “Creepy Carrots!” 🎨✨ Check out these spooky, funny, and uniquely decorated carrot cutouts made by our talented young readers. Excellent job, 1st grade! 📖🧡

🐿️📚 **LET THE IMAGINATION BEGIN!** ✏️✨

Our 2nd graders in 2-0 are getting ready to launch their next writing adventure… an **IMAGINATIVE ESSAY!** 📝💭 But first, we needed a little inspiration to get those creative juices flowing!

What better way to discover the ingredients of a GREAT story than to invite **Mr. Leo** to our classroom to read *The Squirrels Who Squabbled* by Rachel Bright and Jim Field?! 🐿️🌰

As we listened to this entertaining tale, we got our brains buzzing with ideas about what makes a story come to life! From interesting characters and exciting problems to humor, surprising events, and a satisfying ending, we’re ready to take those ideas and make them our own!

Who knows what amazing adventures these young authors will dream up?! 🌟📖 One thing is for sure… **2-0 is ready to imagine, create, and WRITE!** ❤️✏️

A BIG thank-you to Mr. Leo for helping us get our imaginations rolling! 🐿️👏

🎲🔢 **ROLL IT! COUNT IT! WRITE IT!** ✏️📚

Math Workshop is full of fun choices in Mrs. Brummel’s class! 🎉 Our young mathematicians are building their number sense in so many hands-on ways!

🎲 **Roll It! Count It! Write It!** — Roll the dice, count the dots, and write the matching numeral!

🖐️ **Build It!** — Use ten frames to identify and represent quantities while strengthening those counting skills!

📚 **My Counting Book** — Become an author and illustrator by drawing pictures and using stickers to create a one-of-a-kind counting book!

From rolling and counting to building and creating, our students are learning that **MATH IS EVERYWHERE!** ❤️➕➖

So many choices, so much learning, and SO MUCH MATH FUN! Way to go, mathematicians! 👏🔢

🚌💛 HAPPY SCHOOL BUS SAFETY WEEK! 💛🚌

Today, we’re celebrating the amazing school bus drivers who help make every school day at Fearn possible! 🌟

Rain or shine, our drivers work hard to make sure our students arrive at school safely, with a smile, and READY TO LEARN! They are often the first friendly face our students see each morning and the last one to wish them well at the end of the day. Their patience, kindness, and dedication make a difference in the lives of our students every single day.

To our Fearn bus drivers, THANK YOU for the important role you play in our school community. We are so grateful for the care you show our students and for the safe journeys you provide each day. You do so much more than drive a bus — you help set the tone for a great day of learning! 💛

Let's give our bus drivers a big HIP! HIP! HOORAY! for all they do! 🎉

Math Workshop is in full swing, and Mrs. Talkington’s 1st graders are on a roll! 🧠✨

Our mini mathematicians dove into Math Workshop alongside Fearn’s amazing Instructional Coach, Mrs. Plascencia! Together, they've been exploring, problem-solving, and building those critical thinking skills through hands-on games and guided practice. Seeing their eyes light up during those big "aha!" moments is the absolute best part of the day. 💙📏🔢

Huge thanks to Mrs. Plascencia for joining 1T's workshop and making learning together so much fun!

🧪 Chain Reaction + Gravity = STEM FUN! 🚀

Things were really rolling, tipping, and tumbling in Mr. Kearns’ STEM class! Students from Ms. Grometer’s class put their engineering skills to the test as they designed and built chain reactions, exploring the power of gravity along the way. 🧲⚙️

From carefully positioning materials to testing what would happen next, students experimented, problem-solved, and made adjustments to get their chain reactions moving! They discovered how one action can trigger another and how gravity helps objects move and fall.

Who knew physics could be this much fun? At Fearn, we’re learning by doing, one reaction at a time! 💡🔬👏
