Happy National Reptile Awareness Day!

In honor of the day, let's give a quick update on our favorite reptile, Specs! Specs has been living with our Library Director, Andrea, since we first moved out of our North Main St. location in August! She has been settling in well and is in great company with Andrea's gecko, Miss Elizabeth.

Many have asked where Specs will be staying in our new temporary location in the Hoover District. And honestly, we're still trying to figure that out ourselves! We do know that Specs will be coming to stay in the Hoover District soon and will be out a few hours a day to receive visitors! Since our new space can get loud and echoey, we don't want to overwhelm Specs with too much action all at once.

Rest assured that when Specs makes her triumphant return, you will be the first to know!

Our Staff Development Day was a great success! We had presentations from our very own Tech Trainer Calen, Library Director Andrea, Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, Domestic Violence Project, Inc., and more!

We gave out some super special Applause awards to two of our Adult & Teen Department members! Tori received the Dedication to Excellence Award for receiving the most Applause Nominations (17) from both patrons and fellow staff members. Katie received The Officially Awesome Award for submitting the most Applause Nominations (16) for her fellow staff members. You can get involved in our Applause Program by following this link and submitting moments of excellence you have experienced with one of our staff members!

On this day, we also celebrated an outstanding achievement made by one of our staff members. Jen has dedicated 40 years of service to the North Canton Public Library! To honor this momentous occasion, the Mayor himself, along with several members of North Canton City Council, stopped by to delivered a Certificate of Recognition for her service to North Canton! Jen's family stopped by and we all shared in a special Corgi cake to celebrate. Congratulations Jen! 🎉

Our first week open to the public was awesome! Thank you to all of the patrons who came to see us and our new space. A special thank you to everyone who learned with us as we navigated our new layout and location. Your patience means the world to us!

Throughout last week, we heard your thoughts, questions and concerns about our new space and we plan on making a video going over topics like our outdoor book drop, safe street crossing, bathroom locations, and more!

We were so happy to see all of you and can't wait to see what our time in the Hoover District brings!
