🌟 Employee Shout-Out: Matt Cellars 🌟
This year, Matt Cellars celebrates five years with CCEMS, and we are incredibly grateful for his continued dedication and service to our community. Matt has been a first responder long before joining our team, bringing a wealth of experience, professionalism, and calm leadership to every shift. 🚑

Matt also serves as a valued member of our Metro Marine Team. 🌊
The Metro Marine Team is trained to operate water vessels, drive UTVs, and function as an independent provider capable of rendering aid throughout Charleston’s waterways. Matt’s skillset and reliability make him an asset during marine responses.

Outside of work, Matt is a devoted husband to Katie and a loving father to Sully, Harper, and Emmie, along with their dog Daisy, who is very much part of the family.

During his off time, Matt and his family enjoy attending Gamecock games 🏈 and going on family vacations together. ✈️

Your time here matters. You matter. Your family matters.

Thank you, Matt, and thank you to your family for the sacrifices you make in support of Charleston County EMS. ❤️🙏

We appreciate you and proudly celebrate this milestone with you. 👏🎉

Flooding is possible today. Stay alert and be prepared.

As rain continues to move through our area, be aware of changing conditions and the potential for flooding. Make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather warnings and know what actions to take if flooding impacts your area.

🚧 Turn Around, Don’t Drown! Never drive through floodwater or around barricades. Flooded roads can be deeper than they appear, and driving through them puts you, your passengers, and first responders at risk.

🌊 Floodwater can hide open storm drains, sharp debris, and other dangerous hazards. As tempting as it may look, flooded streets are not the place to splash around!

📲 Stay informed:
🔹 Follow Charleston County Government and the US National Weather Service Charleston SC for updates.
🔹 Sign up for CHS Alerts to receive notifications about emergencies, severe weather, and major traffic impacts.

According to US National Weather Service Charleston SC, hazardous conditions are expected to develop tonight and continue through the weekend. The primary threats include heavy rainfall (3-6 inches possible through Sunday) and high tides, which are expected to produce flash flooding and coastal flooding in parts of the county.

Tornado advisories are possible tomorrow morning, particularly along the coast.

Based on this forecast and the potential for conditions to worsen quickly, county officials are encouraging residents to avoid all unnecessary travel Saturday.

🌟 CCEMS at EMS World Expo Florida! 🌟
Earlier this week, several members of our CCEMS Team had the opportunity to attend EMS World Expo in Florida. Events like this allow our team to see EMS beyond Charleston County, learn from National Leaders, and bring home new knowledge that strengthens the care we provide every day. Networking, relationship‑building, and exposure to new ideas all play a major role in helping us grow as a department.

We are also proud to share that our very own Chief of EMS, Christopher Way, currently serving as the elected President of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT), continues to champion this mission of growth and development. His leadership and dedication help push these opportunities forward for our team.

In the photo, we are missing two members from our Support Services section, but we are sure they had a great time exploring the Vendor Hall and checking out the latest equipment, technology, and EMS innovations.

We are proud of our CCEMS team and grateful for opportunities like this to learn, connect, and bring fresh perspectives back home. 🚑💙🌴

Being there when people need us most is what we do every day.

Behind every call, there is a person, a family and a story. This month, we’re thinking of everyone who has faced breast cancer, those still fighting, survivors, and the loved ones who have been there along the way.

From all of us at Charleston County EMS, we’re proud to stand with our community and our Public Safety family.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

This month, Charleston County Public Safety and Medical Services stands with those facing breast cancer, those who have overcome it, and the families, friends and caregivers who walk alongside them.

Our work is about being there when people need help most. This month, we’re also taking a moment to recognize the importance of awareness, early detection and supporting one another.

Together, we can keep the conversation going and remind our community that no one has to face it alone.
