**SCAM ALERT**

A North Hampton resident received a fake email from the "Town of North Hampton Planning Commission" demanding a $7,994 approval fee by wire transfer. It used the town seal, the real Town Office address, and real details about the Town of North Hampton application process.

Check the sender:
[email protected]

That's a free .com account. The ".gov" is just part of a fake username. Real town emails end in -nh.gov.

Common Signs of a Scam:
Using wording such as "Wire transfer only", "reply for wire instructions," email-only contact, and "due upon receipt" are all classic scam signs.

If you have an application before the town and receive such an email, do not reply or pay. Call Town Hall directly using the number on the official town website to follow-up on the status of your application.
