A coastal storm is expected to bring strong winds, dangerous currents, and rough seas along Rhode Island’s shoreline through the end of this weekend.

🌊 Stay off rocks, jetties, and other coastal areas. Waves can easily sweep people into the water from what seems like a safe viewing area.

🚤 Boaters: Check marine forecasts and advisories. Secure vessels and paddlecraft, and stay off the water during the storm as conditions can deteriorate quickly.

🛟No lifeguards are on duty at state beaches. Stay out of the water when conditions are dangerous, and keep children and pets away from the water’s edge.

📌 Follow the US National Weather Service Boston MA for updates on the forecast and Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency for preparedness information.

[Potential Coastal Storm Impacts] After a mostly dry work week...the potential exists for a coastal storm to bring rain, strong to potentially damaging wind gusts, as well as coastal flooding/beach erosion late in the week. These are potential impacts...dependent on the track.

🌞As summer turns to fall, we want to recognize and thank our incredible staff for all of their hard work this summer!

Our seasonal park rangers, groundskeepers, naturalists, lifeguards, beach managers, and more kept Rhode Island’s state parks, beaches, and campgrounds running smoothly all season long. We’re so grateful for your hard work and dedication, helping to make these places safe, accessible, and fun for everyone.

🏕️ Don’t pack away your outdoor gear just yet! Fall camping is still going strong through October at Fishermen’s Memorial, George Washington, Charlestown Breachway, and Burlingame Campgrounds. Plan your next adventure at www.riparks.ri.gov/campgrounds

🍂 Fall reminders:

· Parking at RI State Beaches is free in the off-season
· Lifeguards are no longer on duty, so please be safe, know your limits, and always keep a close eye on kids near the water
· Most locations have portajohns available (weather permitting)
· Remember to wear an orange hat or vest when visiting hunting areas

📢 Attention golfers: The Goddard Memorial State Park Golf Course will close for the season this Monday. The last day to golf this year is Sunday, September 20, 2026.

The closure allows us to address significant turf die-off from crabgrass and drought. Crews will begin aerating, overseeding, and installing sod to allow new plantings time to establish before winter.

We appreciate your patience as we work to maintain and improve Rhode Island’s only state-run golf course, and look forward to welcoming you back next spring with healthier, better-established greens!

⛳ Opened in 1939, Goddard’s 9-hole course offers 3,021 yards from the longest tees with a par of 36. Learn more at riparks.ri.gov/golf

Orange you glad safety never goes out of style?

This fall, keep your adventures bright and safe with high-visibility fall fits: don’t forget to wear fluorescent orange when you’re in the woods. 🍂🔶

Starting this weekend with archery deer season, anyone visiting state management areas or undeveloped state parks during hunting season must wear 200 square inches of solid orange (a hat or vest works).

Wave goodbye to beach season and catch the last splash of summer at RI state beaches! 👋🌊

The holiday weekend is a great time to get outdoors before we embrace fall. 🍂

🏖️ Labor Day is the last day that state beach facilities, restrooms, and concessions will be open and staffed with lifeguards, rangers, and facility attendants. All eight state beaches are expected to have lifeguards on duty throughout the holiday weekend, but swimming areas will be reduced at several locations.

🛟 Lifeguards are also expected to be on duty at non-surf swimming areas at Lincoln Woods and Pulaski State Parks, but will not be present at Fort Adams State Park, Goddard Memorial State Park, or the Burlingame State Park Picnic Area.

Stay safe this weekend:

• Swim only in designated swimming areas
• Know your swimming limits
• Stay aware of water conditions
• Adults should always supervise children near water

📌 See more safety tips at www.riparks.ri.gov/beachsafety

After this weekend, beach parking gates and lots remain open, weather permitting. Non-food concessions at Misquamicut State Beach will remain open daily, weather permitting, for a few weeks after the holiday. Portajohns will be available at most state beaches as conditions allow.

⚠️Reminder: State Offices are closed Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day and will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, September 8.
