*Loose Animal Reminder* 🐕
If you see a loose dog (pig, goat, horse, etc) PLEASE CALL your local Police Departments. While social media can be helpful for informing the community and reuniting animals, not everyone has it. Additionally, there are many different types of social medias and community pages. Animal Control does not get a special alert to notify us of such occurrences. We are not always on our phones and even if we get a minute to check social media, it doesn’t mean the posts show up on our newsfeed. We do appreciate when we get a tag or message and if we get a notification, we will respond when available. So along with posting loose animals online, PLEASE contact us. If we are not on duty or are unavailable, an officer can be dispatched by the local Police Department as long as they’re available.
*Reminder about CATS: if you see a cat outside, they are not always considered a stray and/or LOOSE because within ordinance, cats are free to roam. They are expected to have a collar on, but we understand that people do not like to put a collar on a cat due to fear they may get caught on something outdoors. Microchips are helpful to have (cats and dogs) and if scanned and registered, it can be an easy way to reunite with owners.
*This post is supposed to be an educated reminder that we are here to help, how to contact us, and how we appreciate the help of the community. So along with posting loose animals online, please contact us too*
