This month's article in the North Kingstown Historic Genealogical Society newsletter, features a couple of incredible photos from the library's Lawrence collection. On May 27, 1906, the chimney of the Quidnessett Baptist Church caught fire. The community rushed to the site of the fire, eventually forming a "bucket brigade", but the church could not be saved. A photo of the burning church taken by Mrs. F.E. Shaw survives to this day. The community rallied to rebuild the church, which opened for the first time in March of 1908.
