Movie night!!! Tonight at 6:30!!!

🎥🍿 COMING THIS FRIDAY TO GARNER ELEMENTARY! 🍿🎥
🤠🚀 TO INFINITY AND BEYOND...JOIN US FOR A BIG-SCREEN ADVENTURE! 🚀🤠

We are excited to welcome all our Garner friends and families to enjoy a movie with us! Our plan is to watch the movie outside, dependent on weather (which we know has not been favorable as of late). If weather causes us havoc, we will move the movie inside to the cafeteria! This is not a drop-off event, so an adult must accompany their student(s).

Those who plan to attend, are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks/drinks. The PTO will have some popcorn on hand as a first come, first serve basis. We will also have some candy and drinks available to purchase, while supplies last.

We are looking forward to a fun night getting to hang out with all our friends! 💚

Garner Elementary is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ahmed Osman, a fifth-grade student at Borlaug Elementary, and Hannah Jorgensen, his fifth-grade teacher.

Prior to her time at Borlaug, Hannah was a beloved member of the Garner staff, serving as a paraeducator for multiple school years, as well as completing both her practicum and student teaching experiences. Hannah’s calm presence, willingness to go above and beyond, and love for all students made Hannah an amazing person and educator.

Please continue to keep Ahmed and Hannah’s family, and the Borlaug community in your thoughts during this terribly difficult time.

On Friday Mrs Buell’s class did a fun language arts lesson called “Word Detectives.” Students used magnifying glasses to help them find and sort “sh” “ch” and “tch” words. Great job, 2nd graders. And shout out to a fifth grade friend who helped with the lesson and take photos. Go 🐊🐊🐊

Yesterday at School of the Wild, some of our 5th graders learned about bird banding and bird migration from Dave, of the Iowa Raptor Project, and Carter, Garner 🐊 alum and current Iowa student.
