Minuteman Monday! Cadet Aidan Shaw is a 09R, Army ROTC cadet, assigned to the 77th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade at CampRobinson in North Little Rock, Ark. He enlisted in February 2023 and is a full-time student at Hendrix College where he’s majoring in accounting. He’s used the Minuteman Scholarship to cover his tuition and fees, and combined with academic scholarships he’ll graduate debt free.

“I have become a significantly more confident person and learned a plethora of things outside of what is just within the Army; how to lead others, interpersonal relationships, etc.,” he said. “I believe that networking can get you far in life, and there has been no better place to network than in the National Guard. I have gotten to go to school for free, and thanks to the National Guard and ROTC, I will have a career of my choice ready when I graduate.”

ICYMI...Germany is the latest country to land at Ebbing Air National Guard Base and join the F-35 Foreign Military Sales Program to train on the fifth-generation fighter aircraft in the Arkansas River Valley. Poland and Finland have already had aircraft and pilots training in the region, and there are more countries to arrive in the coming years.

A New Chapter Begins at Ebbing!

A major milestone in international F-35 training has arrived! The first German F-35 Lightning II has landed at Ebbing Air National Guard Base in Fort Smith, Arkansas—marking a significant step toward the start of German F-35 pilot training at Ebbing.

Training will be led by the 85th Fighter Group, a detachment from 33rd Fighter Wing out of Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, as part of the U.S. Air Force’s Foreign Military Sales (FMS) mission.

Through FMS, the U.S. Air Force provides training to allied nations operating the F-35, strengthening interoperability, expanding coalition capabilities and paving the way for greater allied burden sharing in support of a stronger, more capable global security partnership.

The arrival of this aircraft represents more than the delivery of an F-35—it represents the continued growth of partnerships and a shared commitment to maintaining a ready, capable and connected force.

Welcome to Ebbing, Bundeswehr!

A lot goes into making the shot count.

Soldiers from across the National Guard trained alongside active-duty Soldiers from the 75th Ranger Regiment during sniper school at Camp Joseph T. Robinson today. They practiced estimating distance to a target by using reticle mils to calculate range, helping them build a more accurate firing solution before sending rounds downrange.

College without the student debt? Cadet Miranda Sanchez is making it happen.

Sanchez is studying Social Work at the University of Arkansas, where she’s also part of ROTC. One weekend a month, she serves with a Field Artillery unit at Fort Chaffee.

At drill, Sanchez works in the Fire Direction Center, helps ensure vehicles receive required maintenance checks, and manages administrative requirements for her unit. She’s also building leadership, accountability and organizational skills that can carry over into a civilian career.

Through the Arkansas National Guard Tuition Waiver, she’s on track to graduate this spring debt free. Sanchez also receives the Minuteman Scholarship through ROTC.

Serve part time. Go to school. Build your future.

Minuteman Monday! First Lt. Madelyn Tauai is a 13A, field artillery officer, assigned to the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade in Barling, Ark. She used the Minuteman Scholarship and National Guard Tuition Waiver through ROTC at the University of Arkansas to graduate debt free in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and finance while building up her resume with skills to help set her apart from her peers.

“Military service has transformed me by giving me the structure, discipline, and opportunities I needed to build a successful future,” she said. “Through the benefits I utilized, I was able to earn my degree while developing leadership skills that continue to shape both my military and civilian career. It has given me confidence, direction, and a strong foundation to continue growing and pursuing my goals.”

More than 240 Airmen joined the Arkansas Air National Guard in FY26, marking the highest accession total in more than five years.

This achievement reflects the work of our recruiting team and, most importantly, the Arkansans who made the decision to step forward and serve.

As FY27 begins, the Arkansas Air National Guard is building on that momentum and continuing to grow the force.
