💜 Small Acts. Big Impact. Dignity for All.

We were proud to participate in an Access Period Packaging Party, helping assemble 265 three-month supply kits to support individuals experiencing poverty and/or homelessness across Nebraska! 💜

This was an especially meaningful opportunity to give back as one of our GLFS team members volunteered alongside their children, showing that making a difference can start at any age! ❤️

At Guardian Light Family Services, we believe everyone deserves access to basic necessities, dignity, and support. We're also excited to be working toward having one of our visitation centers become an official Access Period distribution location, helping make these essential resources more accessible to families in our communities.

A huge thank-you to Access Period for the incredible work they do across Nebraska and for giving families and organizations opportunities to make a difference!

Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Guardian Light Family Services recognizes and honors the history, cultures, traditions, and resilience of Indigenous peoples, especially the Native nations and communities whose roots run deep throughout Nebraska.

We recognize that the strength of families and communities is built on generations of stories, traditions, and connections. As we work to support children and families across Nebraska, we remain committed to listening, learning, respecting cultural identities, and honoring the importance of heritage and belonging.

Looking for a flexible HR opportunity in the North Platte area?

Guardian Light Family Services is hiring a part-time Human Resources Generalist for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize their work independently.

This role offers flexibility in where and when some of the work is completed. Consistent daytime availability is required, though some hours may also be worked in the evenings or on weekends.

If you have an appropriate workspace and can work independently, much of the position can be completed remotely. If you prefer or need office space, our North Platte office is available for you to work from.

Because important employment and court-related documents are received at the office, this position does require stopping into the North Platte office approximately 1–2 times per week to collect and scan incoming mail. There may also be times when we ask that work be completed from the office based on organizational needs.

We’re looking for someone who is strong with:
• Organization and attention to detail
• Tracking and follow-through
• Confidentiality and professional communication
• Independent time management and prioritization

🎃 We’re all set up at Crete's Great Pumpkin Festival! 🍂

🧡 Today, we wear orange.

Orange Shirt Day is a time to remember the Indigenous children who were taken from their families and placed in residential and Indian boarding schools, honor Survivors and families, and recognize the generations who continue to carry the impact of this history.

Nebraska is part of this story, too. The Genoa U.S. Indian Industrial School is one part of Nebraska’s boarding-school history, and Native families throughout Nebraska and our surrounding region continue to carry connections to these schools today.

For many families, this is not distant history. It is part of the stories of parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents — including families represented within our own GLFS team.

This year, we asked members of our team to wear orange and share why they wear orange. Their words reflect remembrance, learning, respect, and the importance of helping children and families feel safe, supported, connected, and valued.

💛 We were honored to join the Omaha community at Stinson Park in support of su***de prevention and mental health awareness.

Events like this are a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together—to remember those we’ve lost, support those who are struggling, and remind one another that hope is always worth holding onto.
