Lead water service lines must be replaced under new EPA regulations. If your home has a lead service line, it's important to understand what this means for you.

The Village is working to meet these requirements and help residents understand the replacement process. Learn what you need to know about lead service lines and why these replacements are required.

Fall cleanup season is here. Here’s what residents need to know about leaf collection and chipper service.

-Leaf Collection
Place leaves in yard waste bags or 35-gallon containers clearly marked with a yard waste tag. Tags are available at the Village Commons. Leaves will be picked up by the Village’s waste hauler on your regular garbage day through November 29th.

Please do not rake or blow leaves into the street. Leaves in the roadway can clog sewers and create safety hazards, and Public Works will not collect piles intentionally placed in the street.

-Chipper Service
Chipper service continues every Tuesday through November 18th. Place large branches at the curb for pickup. This service is intended for minor tree trimming only, not complete tree removals.

Thank you for helping keep streets and storm drains clear this fall.

Fire safety starts with how you charge.

This week is Fire Prevention Week. This year’s theme is “Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower.”

With rechargeable devices now part of everyday life, safe charging habits matter. Phones, laptops, power tools, e-bikes, scooters, and other devices with lithium-ion batteries can become a fire risk when batteries or chargers are damaged or used improperly.

Keep these safety tips in mind:

• Use the correct charger for your device.
• Charge on a hard surface away from anything that can burn.
• Never use damaged or swollen batteries.
• Stop using a device if the battery becomes unusually hot.

Take a few minutes this Fire Prevention Week to check how devices are being charged in your home. A few simple habits can help prevent a fire.

One decision near the tracks can have life changing consequences.

September is Rail Safety Month, an important opportunity to reinforce safe habits around railroad tracks and crossings. Always obey warning signals and crossing gates, stay off railroad tracks, and never try to beat an approaching train.

E-bike and scooter riders should use extra caution near crossings. Slow down, stay alert, follow all traffic signals, and never ride around lowered crossing gates.

Whether you are driving, walking, biking, or riding a scooter, making safe choices near the tracks helps protect everyone in our community.
