📊 Ontario Town Budget Concerns for 2027

💰 Salary & Tax Impact
While proposing a $20,000 salary increase for each of the next two years, the Town of Ontario Supervisor is also proposing a 22% tax increase in the 2027 budget (excluding water and sewer). The budget includes more than $500,000 in additional spending.

🚜 Highway & Equipment Needs
The Town is borrowing $300,000 for a new snowplow truck on top of the proposed budget increases. The Town’s outside audit firm has advised that current reserves are in dangerous territory, and the Highway Department’s fleet — averaging 20+ years old — is in need of replacement.

⚠️ Financial Stability Concerns
These issues highlight the need for serious financial planning to prevent worsening instability and avoid cuts to already minimal town services. This is no longer a Democrat or Republican issue; it is a Town issue requiring immediate attention and a fiscally responsible course for the future.

📘 Experience Matters
Jim Switzer’s knowledge and experience are needed to put Ontario's Town budgets and finances back in order.

🚨 Did you know the Town of Ontario supervisor position is already the 2nd highest paid in Wayne County?

🚨 Right now, the current salary is $80,490.81 (broken down as $58,249.90 from the town, $19,802 from the county, and a $2,438.91 Budget Officer add-on).

Despite already being at the top tier of county pay, Ben Aman is asking for:

A $20,000 raise for 2027
Another $20,000 raise for 2028
Taking on the Economic Development Director role (adding $17,286.43/year)

💰 The Grand Total: This would skyrocket the annual salary to $137,777.23, which is a massive $57,286 increase!

Meanwhile, our community has critical, unfunded needs:

The Highway Department desperately needs new equipment.
The Community Center building requires major structural repairs.
Our Ambulance Service is still struggling through a multi-year budget shortfall.

Do Ontario voters think this massive pay jump is reasonable right now?
