With sadness, the North Tonawanda Police Department announces the passing of retired K-9 Stella.

Stella entered service in February 2020 with K-9 Officer Jeff Kam. A dual purpose narcotics and patrol canine, Stella assisted with drug investigations, missing persons, and other duties until her retirement in September 2024. She was also integral in the department’s community policing efforts over the years.

Please join us in remembering K-9 Stella during this tough time for K-9 Officer Kam and the department.

10/05/2026

The North Tonawanda Police Department would like to remind residents that signs may not be placed on city owned property, including the terrace area between the street and sidewalk. North Tonawanda city code prohibits signs, placards, posters and similar materials from being placed in public streets and public places. This includes political signs as well as other types of signs.

Under the North Tonawanda city code, the terrace is defined as city property located between the curb or edge of the roadway and the sidewalk (or property line where no sidewalk exists). City code §76-1 also prohibits the placement of signs, placards, posters and similar materials in public streets and public places, including political advertising.

If you are placing a sign at your residence, please make sure it is located on your private property and not between the sidewalk and the street. This applies to all signs, regardless of the message, candidate, organization, or viewpoint.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation and ask residents to please check the location of any signs currently displayed at their property.
