🎃 HAPPY HALLOWEEN! 🎃

The Northfield Police Department wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable Halloween!

As families and children take to the streets for trick-or-treating, we encourage everyone to take a few extra precautions to help ensure a safe evening for our community.

👮 Halloween Safety Reminders:

🚗 Motorists: Please reduce your speed, remain alert, and watch carefully for pedestrians, especially children crossing roadways.

🚸 Pedestrians: Use sidewalks and designated crosswalks whenever possible. Carry a flashlight and wear reflective clothing to increase visibility.

🏠 Residents: Keep exterior lights on and ensure walkways are clear and well-lit.

Our officers will be out throughout the evening helping keep our community safe.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and wish you and your families a fun, memorable, and safe Halloween!

Stay safe, look out for one another, and enjoy the festivities!

🎃👻 Happy Halloween from all of us at the Police Department! 👻🎃

Today is National First Responders Day!

Today, we recognize and thank the men and women who serve our community through the Northfield Police Department, Northfield Fire, Northfield EMS, and Rice Steele 911.

First responders see people on some of their hardest days and deal with situations most people never have to think about. From the dispatchers answering the call for help to the officers, firefighters, and EMS crews responding in the field, each plays an important role in keeping our community safe.

The hours aren’t always great, the job isn’t always easy, and much of what they do happens behind the scenes. But they show up, work together, and help people when they need it most.

We’re fortunate to have such dedicated people serving our community. Please join us in thanking them for all they do, today and every day!

And yes, we know there seems to be a national day for just about everything these days, but this is one worth recognizing. 😊

💊 DEA National Drug Take Back Day is TOMORROW!

Did you know we have a secure medication drop box right here in the Police Department lobby?

Tomorrow is a great reminder to clean out your medicine cabinet and safely dispose of unused or expired medications. But here’s the best part — you don’t have to wait for Take Back Day!

Stop by the Police Department lobby and drop off your unwanted medications any day, any time of day. No appointment needed.

Help keep medications out of the wrong hands and protect our community!

🚓 If you see a few extra police vehicles at Target tonight, no need to worry! 🎯

Northfield Police officers and Rice County Sheriff's deputies are out for our annual Shop with a Cop! While some programs focus on holiday gifts, our goal is to help local kids pick out winter necessities to get them through the Minnesota winter (and maybe sneak in a few fun things, too!).

It’s a great opportunity to spend time together, build connections, and make a positive difference in our community.

A HUGE thank you to The Rice County Salvation Army for sponsoring this event and to Target for the partnership with us tonight! We appreciate everyone who helps make this evening possible.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us last night for our first-ever Northfield Police Department Open House!

The weather was perfect, the conversations were even better, and we had a great time spending the evening with our community.

There were some special moments throughout the night, including retired Officer Murphy getting a ride in the seatbelt convincer—operated by his son, current Officer Murphy. We’ll let you decide who enjoyed that experience more! 😂

North Aircare also made an appearance, giving everyone an up-close look at their helicopter.

And we couldn’t end the night without some friendly competition. Officers took on the inflatable obstacle course while our friends from Northfield EMS kept a close eye on things. After watching the race, we’re pretty sure they knew exactly why they were there. 😂

Thank you to everyone who came out, asked questions, shared some laughs, and spent the evening with us. We had a great time and hope you did too!
