๐Ÿฑโค๏ธ UPDATE: THE CATS HAVE BEEN ADOPTED! โค๏ธ๐Ÿฑ

Thanks to our amazing community, a kind-hearted resident came to the station and officially adopted BOTH young cats together! They are now on their way to a loving forever home. ๐Ÿ โœจ

While we are relieved this story had a happy ending, we must deliver a very serious reminder to our community: NEVER, EVER DROP OFF OR ABANDON PETS AT THE FIREHOUSE. ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ›‘

Please understand why this is so critical:
โŒ We are not a shelter: The Northlake Fire Protection District has no facilities, resources, or legal capacity to house or care for animals.
โŒ Extreme Danger to Animals: Leaving pets outside our doors puts them at risk of weather exposure, traffic hazards, or stray attacks.
โŒ Operational Risks: Emergency calls require our crews to leave the station immediately. If an animal is left outside, we may be out on a call for hours, leaving them helpless and unattended.

Abandoning animals at a fire station is unsafe and unacceptable. If you or someone you know can no longer care for a pet, please contact local animal control, surrender organizations, or accredited animal shelters directly.

Thank you to everyone who shared our post and helped us find these two a home, and a huge thank you to their new owner for stepping up! ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ

๐Ÿพ๐Ÿšจ URGENT: THESE TWO CATS NEED A HOME TODAY! ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿพ

Earlier today, these two young cats were left outside the front door of our fire station. We have no idea how long they were sitting outside before we found them.

PLEASE NOTE: The Northlake Fire Protection District DOES NOT accept or take in pets. We are not an animal shelter, we have no facilities to house animals, and local shelters currently have no room to take them in. Leaving animals outside a fire station is unsafe and puts both the animals and our crews in a difficult situation.

That being said, these sweet cats are currently at our station, and we need someone from the public to adopt them immediately! ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿฑโค๏ธ

Here is what you need to know:
๐Ÿ”น Package Deal: They appear to be young siblings and are very attachedโ€”we strongly prefer they go to a home TOGETHER.
๐Ÿ”น First Come, First Served: The first responsible person/family who comes to the firehouse to claim them can keep them! ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ
๐Ÿ”น Friendly & Sweet: They are calm, well-behaved, and desperate for a safe, loving family.

If you or someone you know can give these two a forever home right now, please come to the firehouse or contact us immediately! Let's get these two settled into a safe home today. ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ

PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS POST CALL THE FIREHOUSE AT (708) 562-3182 IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.

The wait is officially over, Northlake! We are thrilled to introduce the newest addition to our fleet: a brand-new Sutphen Heavy-Duty Custom Pumper. ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ™Œ

When choosing a new apparatus, we look for true craftsmanship, safety, and reliability. Sutphen is a family-owned company that has been supporting the fire service for over 135 years, and their dedication shows in every inch of this rig. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

Engine 806 features expanded storage space and enhanced rescue capabilities, allowing it to seamlessly serve its dual role as both a front-line fire engine and an advanced life support paramedic unit for our community. ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿšจ

Our crews will be spending the next few weeks conducting hands-on training, mounting equipment, and getting it fully dialed in before it officially goes into frontline service. Keep an eye out for the new Engine 806 on the streets of Northlake soon! ๐Ÿ‘€โค๏ธ

The Northlake Fire Protection District is heartbroken to share the news of a tragic residential fire that occurred early this morning at 74 West Drive.

Despite the swift response and best efforts of our Firefighter / Paramedics and neighboring agencies, we are deeply saddened to confirm the loss of two members of our community, Susan Palos and Maricarmen Wilkerson.

There are no words to ease the pain of such a profound loss. On behalf of every member of the Northlake Fire Protection District, we extend our most sincere condolences to the family, friends, and neighbors affected by this tragedy. ๐Ÿฅž๐Ÿณ Breakfast with the Future! ๐Ÿณ๐Ÿฅž

Yesterday morning, our crew had the absolute pleasure of attending the First Responders Breakfast at St. John Vianney Catholic School.

The students did an incredible job preparing a delicious breakfast for us and our partners at the Police Department and other local agencies. It was such a treat to spend time with the kids, see the amazing banners they made for us, and feel the support of the SJV community! โค๏ธ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

A huge thank you to the students, teachers, and staff at St. John Vianney for honoring us. Your kindness and appreciation mean the world to our Firefighter/Paramedics!

โ„๏ธ๐Ÿšจ ARCTIC BLAST ALERT: HIGHS NEAR 0ยฐF ๐Ÿšจโ„๏ธ

Northlake, it is going to be dangerously cold tomorrow. With highs struggling to reach 0 degrees, our Firefighter/Paramedics want to make sure you stay safe. Please keep these "Big Four" tips in mind:

๐Ÿ”ฅ SPACE HEATERS: Give them space! Keep heaters at least 3 feet away from bedding, curtains, and furniture. Always plug them directly into the wallโ€”never use an extension cord or power strip. ๐Ÿ”Œ๐Ÿ”ฅ
๐ŸงŠ WATCH FOR ICE: At these temperatures, salt often stops working. Be extremely careful on stairs and sidewalksโ€”black ice is a major cause of fall-related injuries and EMS calls. ๐ŸงŠ๐Ÿš‘
๐Ÿงฃ MEDICAL SAFETY: Frostbite can happen in minutes. If you must go out, cover all exposed skin. Avoid overexertion while shoveling; extreme cold narrows blood vessels and puts extra strain on your heart. โค๏ธ๐Ÿงฃ
๐Ÿšจ CO AWARENESS: Never use your oven or a charcoal grill for heat. Ensure your Carbon Monoxide detectors are working and that your furnace vents are clear of snow. ๐Ÿšจ

Stay indoors and stay safe, Northlake! We are ready to roll if you need us, but weโ€™d prefer you stay cozy and warm. ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿ’ช
