Did you know that Norwalk Easter Public Library participates in the Inter Library Loan Program?
Due to limited space and budgets, your NEPL card can be used to borrow resources from other libraries. Keep reading though, because there are some limitations.
This exchange works both ways. The NEPL also lends books to patrons outside of their community. It's a win-win.
* All outstanding fines and dues must be paid before a patron may utilize this service
* If the NEPL already owns the resource, the request will be denied. Try putting a hold on the item instead.
* There is no cost to participate, but if the lending library charges a fee, the patron is responsible for covering that (may be requested for out of state lending/borrowing)
* Certain items are not available: old or rate books, multi-volume periodicals, Reference or genealogical sources
* Requests may be made in person, by telephone, or via our online catalog
system. Please note that a request must be made for each item
* Locating an item typically takes 1-2 weeks but wait times may exceed that so library staff will communicate with patrons via email, phone, or text message
* Patrons may have a maximum of 3 active requests at one time
* Loan periods and renewals are at the discretion of the lending library
* Any fees will be determined by the lending library
* The NEPL will lend items requested by other libraries in accordance with
statewide policies established by the State Library Libraries Online (SILO)
system.
* It is up to Director, or designee, decision on if we will lend items that have
been owned for less than 3 months
* In accordance with our ILL contracts, we do not charge other libraries for
the use of our books. We reserve the right to charge for large quantities of
photocopies
