📚 Second-grade students at Jefferson Marine Science Elementary School recently enjoyed a special virtual visit with author Rukhsana Khan after reading her children's book, “Big Red Lollipop,” as part of their first unit in the Wonders literacy curriculum.

The story sparked meaningful classroom discussions and personal connections among students, inspiring special education teacher Camille Hendricks to arrange a virtual conversation with the author.

🎤 During the visit, Khan shared the inspiration behind her book, talked about her journey as an author and answered thoughtful questions from the students, giving them a unique opportunity to connect directly with the person behind the story.

“It was a wonderful opportunity to bring our learning beyond the classroom!” said Hendricks.

👏 A special thank you to the Jefferson PTO for generously supporting this memorable learning experience and helping bring literature to life for our young readers!
