*Fire restrictions to be lifted
San Miguel County will be lifting Stage 1 fire restrictions for all unincorporated, privately-owned land within the county, effective 12:01 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2026. This means that after Friday, there will be no fire restrictions in effect for unincorporated SMC.
Recent moisture and cooler temperatures have improved fuel conditions, and the short-term forecast calls for additional moisture in the coming days. However, the fire danger rating is still considered moderate to high in parts of our county, so please continue to be careful with all open flames.
