Today our Executive Officer got some stick time behind our flood response small boats. Great day for two boat training LCDR Kasey Arguelles.
The inflatable boats can be deployed quickly to flood impacted areas such as post hurricane or even local local flash flooding.

The Pacific Strike Team recently made a trip to high schools in New Mexico to showcase our unique missions. These young people had a blast trying to hit the courts in a Level A suit!

Ready for Operations complete!
The Ready for Operations or RFO is a week long yearly check-up on the team’s skills and knowledge. This year included oil spill control equipment, hazardous substance identification and of course a bake off!
Shout out to Petty Offer Guadian for his delicious blueberry cobbler!

Attention to advancement!
Congratulations to Petty Officer Robison for his advancement to Storekeeper Second Class. Unfortunately for us that means SK2 has bigger and better things to see. This Summer he’s off to Ketchikan, AK where he will serve aboard the CGC ANTHONY PETIT.

Teamwork makes the dream work!
Between deployments it can be tough getting the entire team together. We’re grateful for all of our mbr’s hard work, especially those who couldn’t make the picture!

One of our many missions at the Strike Team, and possibly the most dangerous, is confined space entry and rescue. These teams are called upon to enter tight enclosed spaces with unknown hazards in order to rescue people who may have gone down. We just finished up an annual training with our friends in the Firefighting service.

It is with a heavy heart that the PST announces we lost one of our own to an abrupt battle with cancer. LT Josh Waldmeir has been a member of our team since 2017 and through that time made a meaningful difference to the team and our mission. Everyone knew the dedication he had to his work, both on and off duty. Thank you for your service to the Coast Guard and to your country.
Fair winds and following seas Shipmate. We have the watch.

Congratulations to MK1 Torres for earning the coveted Sailor of the Quarter award! MK1 was a crucial member of the NSF Search and Rescue teams who responded to Hurricane IAN, at one point wading through chest deep water to assist citizens in need.
Another big thank you to the Navy League’s Marin Branch for supporting Coasties in the North Bay Area both at home and in Washington DC.

The U.S. Coast Guard Atlantic Strike Team and U.S. Coast Guard IMAT recently hosted an excellent ICS Exercise for the NSF Community. These training opportunities keep us ready for any emergency!

We were honored today to participate in the annual wreath laying ceremony at the Mare Island Naval Cemetery. The facility is the oldest military cemetery on the west coast and even honors the remains of three Medal of Honor recipients.
Thank you to the Vallejo Navy League for hosting this beautiful ceremony.
