This morning at approximately 11:06am, an on-duty Traffic Officer driving along hwy 169 North observed the above suspect running recklessly through traffic.

Officers attempted to contact the suspect, later identified as “Marco” (unknown age, but very puppylike, resident of Pet-aluma) but the suspect continued to flee the scene, in a manner that can only be described as “gleeful evasion”.

After a brief pursuit, Marco was taken into custody and booked at our department on charges of: failure to heel, running without a leash-ense, and operating four paws at excessive speeds.

Marco was transported to the Nowata animal shelter Department, where he was provided water, treats, and lots of attention!

Officers attempted to gain information through a records check, but unfortunately Marcos’ microchip only revealed his name. Despite extensive questioning, Marco declined to provide an address, phone number, or statement.

We would love to reunite Marco with his “Polo”. If you recognize him, he is now in custody of Nowata Animal Services where he is awaiting his grand release.

Residents needing assistance with stray animals, animal bites, animal welfare concerns, nuisance complaints, animal-related emergencies, or other animal control matters can contact: nowataAnimal Services

Also a great reminder that if your pet is microchipped, please make sure the contact information associated with the chip is current! When possible, pets should also wear a collar with an identification tag containing an owner’s current phone number. A microchip is an important backup, but up-to-date information can make the difference between a quick reunion and an unexpected stay in doggy detention.
