Milwaukee DSA The official Milwaukee chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America. At the root of our socialism is a profound commitment to democracy, as means and end.

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in the United States, and we are the official Milwaukee Chapter. DSA's members are building progressive movements for social change while establishing an openly democratic socialist presence in American communities and politics. As we are unlikely to see an immediate end to capitalism tomorrow, DSA fights for reforms today that will weaken the power of corporations and increase the power of working people. For example, we support reforms that:

- decrease the influence of money in politics

- empower ordinary people in workplaces and the economy

- restructure gender and cultural relationships to be more equitable. We are activists committed to democracy as not simply one of our political values but our means of restructuring society. Our vision is of a society in which people have a real voice in the choices and relationships that affect the entirety of our lives. We call this vision democratic socialism — a vision of a more free, democratic and humane society. We are socialists because we reject an international economic order sustained by private profit, alienated labor, race and gender discrimination, environmental destruction, and brutality and violence in defense of the status quo. We are socialists because we share a vision of a humane international social order based both on democratic planning and market mechanisms to achieve equitable distribution of resources, meaningful work, a healthy environment, sustainable growth, gender and racial equality, and non-oppressive relationships. Please join DSA as we work to help build a better and more just world for all

2026 Kenosha Racine Thanksgiving Food Drive!

This holiday season, all of us here at Kenosha Racine DSA want to give back the community that makes living in our corner of Wisconsin so incredible each and every day. That's why we have partnered with several businesses across Kenosha and Racine to collect donations.

Our goal is to provide 25 families in Kenosha and Racine with a free, no questions asked Holiday Meal. To do so, we are looking for non-perishable food donations as well as monetary donations that will be used for purchasing a Turkey and any other perishable food items needed.

For more information on our 2026 Thanksgiving Food Drive, including a full list of donation sites and partners, Mean Request Form or our Donorbox link, visit our website at https://krdsa.org/?page_id=283

DSA North Texas 🌹 has asked for donations to Emiliano Andrade-Covarrubia’s family for a dignified funeral and burial service. Our shortlink for their gofundme is go.dsausa.org/donateemiliano.

“On Saturday, October 17, 2026, Emiliano Andrade-Covarrubias was found unresponsive at the Rio Grande Processing Center in Laredo, TX during a routine check-in. Mr. Andrade-Covarrubias was a 56-year-old father of three who lived in Dallas for several decades working as a contractor. He is the second person this year to die in Laredo while detained at an ICE facility. The first person was Felix Alcorta-Rodriguez, who died in June while detained at the Webb County Detention Center.

The continued disregard for human life and care in the three Laredo ICE detention facilities is appalling and should be considered unacceptable in every capacity.

Unfortunately, Mr. Andrade-Covarrubias’ death is part of a larger pattern. His death in ICE custody was around the 29th nationally, the seventh in Texas, and the second in Laredo just this year.

For each life lost, many more people with serious medical conditions continue to suffer in ICE custody in our community and state. Each and every person in these facilities deserves adequate medical care and to live with dignity during their immigration process.

Likewise, our community members should decry medical neglect in these facilities, support an independent investigation, and push for release for those with serious medical conditions. We don’t want to see another person die in immigration detention in Laredo or anywhere.”
