🍝 National Pasta Day is coming up this Saturday! 🍝

Whether you're making spaghetti, lasagna, or your favorite pasta dish, we’re pasta-tively here for it! Just remember, nobody wants their dinner to go up in flames. 🔥

Cooking is a leading cause of home fires, so before you get saucy in the kitchen, keep these tips in mind:

👀 Stay put: Never leave food cooking unattended.
🔥 Keep it clear: Keep towels, potholders, packaging and other flammable items away from the stovetop.
🍳 Turn it in: Keep pot handles turned inward to prevent bumps and spills.
⏰ Set a timer: It’s easy to get distracted while cooking, so use a timer to help you remember what’s on the stove.
🧯 Know what to do: If a small grease fire starts, slide a lid over the pan and turn off the burner if it’s safe to do so. Never use water on a grease fire.
🚨 Check your alarms: Make sure your smoke alarms are working.

Enjoy your pasta this weekend, and remember: the only thing that should be getting hot is the sauce! 🍝🔥

🚨 DON’T BE ALARMED… BUT DO LISTEN! 🚨

At 10:15 a.m. today, tsunami sirens (alarms) across Whidbey Island will be tested as part of the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill.

When you hear them, take a moment to see if you can hear the sirens from your location and learn what to do if they sound when it’s not a drill.

🌎 Washington is Earthquake Country! Knowing what to do before, during, and after an earthquake can make all the difference.

When charging on a plane, keep portable charging devices on the tray table.

Do not charge devices in overhead compartments and never charge e-cigarettes or vapes on a plane.

If a battery overheats or fails, it is important for the flight crew to be able to respond quickly.
