On behalf of the Village of Oak Lawn, Illinois The Oak Lawn Fire Department would like to thank all those who attended today's memorial remembrance for the victims of 9/11. Today's ceremony was conducted at firehouse 3 instead of the memorial due to inclement weather. Congressman Sean Casten, Mayor Terry Vorderer, Oak Lawn Park District President, Major Dan Johnson, Fire Chief Zack Riddle, and Public Works Director William Meyer all shared on the meaning and importance of freedom, and the history of Oak Lawn's own 9/11 memorial located at Patriot Station.
After the ceremony, Mayor Terry Vorderer and Fire Chief Zack Riddle took questions from a visiting class from Southwest Christian School.
Special thanks to VFW Post 5220 Oak Lawn, IL for providing the color guard for today's remembrance and to all the first responders who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.
