Last week we hosted our second Autism Response conference at the Knoxville Convention Center. With over 100 law enforcement officers, instructors and educators, vendors, volunteers and staff in attendance, this training provided officers with training, skills, and understanding to help them better serve individuals with autism. We were honored to have our special guest, Love on the Spectrum's Tyler White perform his hit song "Oh Yeah Baby" and share his experiences as a person on the autism spectrum. Officers had a wide variety of class offerings that provided them with an in depth understanding of autism, de-escalation techniques, best practices, and new and innovative technologies to assist them during encounters with individuals with autism.

We had so many fantastic partners that helped us pull this together and provide their expertise. Thank you to Tennessee Department of Disability and Aging, Vanderbilt Kennedy Center, University of Tennessee KLASS Center, Tennessee Department of Revenue, The Jenkins Center, KTG Foundation, The Arc Williamson County, The Arc Davidson County and Greater Nashville, Project Lifesaver International Headquarters, Sevier County Sheriff's Office, Knox County Sheriff's Office, our amazing coworkers at SMART Initiative - Substance Misuse and Addiction Resource for Tennessee, and the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration (Office of Criminal Justice Programs) for allowing us the opportunity to provide such transformative training on this scale. And thank you to everyone who attended, we know your communities are better for having you!
