Glacier High School Charter Glacier High School Charter is a personalized learning charter school. August 19th, 2002 was the first day of student attendance with sixteen students enrolled.

Glacier was founded as a cooperative venture by parents of future students, teachers and two school administrators. Parents from Mountain Home Charter School (Mountain Home) desired to create a high school with a similar personalized learning program. Chartered through the Yosemite Unified School District, Glacier received final approval for operation from the State Board of Education in June 2002. In 2006 we created a satellite campus in Kingsburg that currently has one full time teacher and an additional part time teacher. Today Glacier serves over 100 students with 5 full time teachers and several part time teachers. In 2008-09 Glacier and Mountain Home School joined together to form a non-profit educational entity called Western Sierra Charter Schools. Glacier serves as the only charter high school in the surrounding mountain area.

October 13 commemorates the official establishment of the U.S. Navy by the Continental Congress in 1775. On that date, the Continental Congress authorized the fitting out of a sailing vessel armed with 10 carriage guns and equipped with 80 sailors for a three-month cruise to intercept British supply ships. In 1972, Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Elmo Zumwalt officially designated October 13 as the U.S. Navy Birthday, honoring the Navy’s proud heritage.

To any and all who have or are currently serving in the US Navy (and their families), thank you for your service.

Families,

We’re wrapping up Spirit Week today with Rhyme Without Reason Day!

Students should pair up with a friend or group and wear costumes that rhyme but have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

Cat and bat, fairy and dairy, bear and chair, salt and lime 🤷‍♀️

Have fun and finish Spirit Week strong!

Families,

Tomorrow wraps up Spirit Week with Rhyme Without Reason Day!

Students, make sure you and your partner or group have your costumes ready!

Pick things that rhyme but have absolutely nothing in common!

Cat and bat, fairy and dairy, bear and chair.

The stranger the combination, the better!

Families,

Today is Fashion Disaster Day!

Students should come dressed as badly as possible. Mix patterns, wear things backward or inside out, clash colors, pile on layers, and add the silliest accessories you can find!

Today... BAD fashion is the assignment.
