2nd Community Workshop for the new Hoover Branch Library in the Hoover neighborhood in West Oakland happening this weekend.
The Hoover neighborhood of West Oakland is getting a new library and your input is needed to make it a success! Our first community workshop covered what our experience of the new library should be when we enter the space. This time we need your voices for the next phase of the process.
Our second Community Workshop, led by June A. Grant, Design Principal of blinkLAB architecture, will lead you through the process of developing the Sequence of Spatial Experiences. A Feasibility Study includes identifying possible and plausible scenarios to achieving a library the community actually wants to visit. You will work collaboratively in teams to create several scenarios of possible library space plans!
Lunch will be served and space is limited so reserve your spot today!
Please arrive at 10:30am. Workshop will start promptly at 11:00am.

Inspirational story about Chef Jeff Chin’s Spinning Dough restaurant in West Oakland. Incredibly yummy pizza pies. Yes, I love the Hawaiian 🍕 with Ham AND 🍍. Be sure to visit and try his special menu Ube (🤤) and Okonomiyaki for August!
This West Oakland chef is going to keep spinning pizzas, whatever it takes
Jeff Chin says the stress of running Spinning Dough was partly to blame for a recent health scare, but he's persevering because serving his community makes him happy.

On July 12, the Planning Commission unanimously (4-0) approved this groundbreaking office park development by SupplyBank.org and East Bay Municipal Utility District. Exciting to see the vision for the Coliseum Area Specific Plan (CASP) starting to come alive with this transformative non-profit campus, the largest of its kind with over 160,000 sq. ft. of office space and 60,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space for SupplyBank.org's health, education, and emergency response supplies.

After a three year break, I am excited to be back in public service. Grateful to Mayor Sheng Thao for appointing me to Oakland’s Planning Commission and for the City Council’s unanimous approval.
It is no secret that the Bay Area continues to face a housing and homeless crisis. Both of these challenges are inextricably linked together. To move the needle, Oakland needs to expedite building housing over the next couple of years, but not at any cost. I am looking forward to working with city and community leaders to reach these critical goals.
Let’s get to work! 🏗️🏘️🏳️🌈

Wonderful morning back on the City College of San Francisco campus to break ground on the future STEAM building. Funded by our voter approved $845m construction bond campaign I co- chaired in 2020.
Excited to be on CCSF foundation board now to celebrate this milestone for our students 50 years in the making. This state of the art center will replace several old buildings from the 1970s!
Grateful for the strong support from our San Francisco Building & Construction Trades Council team.
Great day for our students and future of City College 🦺👨🏿🎓👩🏽🎓🚧🎉

City College of San Francisco’s world famous Diego Rivera Pan American Unity mural is now at SFMOMA San Francisco Museum of Modern Art through 2023.
Joined my former colleagues Trustees Shanell Williams, Brigitte Davila, & John Rizzo on behalf of the City College Foundation Board of Directors for the opening reception this morning.
You can catch it for free during open hours every day starting at 1pm today. The massive artwork was moved earlier this month across town.

Excited to join the City College of San Francisco Foundation Board of Directors. For over 40 years the Foundation has raised critical funds to support the mission of the District and students through scholarships and grants.
I always loved attending the annual luncheon with our incredible football team, students, and long-term supporters. The event raised over $200,000 every time.
I can't wait to continue to give back to City College and ensure that every student has access to affordable and world-class higher education like I did almost 20 years ago. GO RAMS!
