Sensory experiences shape how young children learn, play, and interact with the world. For children with autism and developmental delays, sensory processing differences can significantly impact behavior, attention, transitions, and social engagement. When we understand sensory needs, we unlock calmer classrooms, stronger relationships, and more meaningful learning experiences.

This workshop is specifically for early childhood providers who want practical strategies to better understand and support sensory needs in their classrooms.

Participants will explore:

How sensory processing works and how it may differ in children with autism and developmental delays
Recognizing signs of sensory seeking, sensory avoiding, and sensory overload
Understanding the connection between sensory regulation and behavior
Practical, low-cost sensory strategies that can be embedded into daily routines
Creating sensory-friendly classroom environments
Supporting self-regulation and smoother transitions throughout the day
Through real-life examples and hands-on tools, providers will gain confidence in identifying sensory needs and responding in supportive, proactive ways. Participants will leave with practical strategies they can immediately implement to promote regulation, engagement, and success for all learners.
