UPDATE: Since the pandemic started, The Spot as a physical space has been closed and some of the programs housed there have transitioned to virtual programming. The future is uncertain, but in the meantime if you are or know youth in the area seeking programs or connections to their community, seek out Asian Health Services Youth Program Banteay Srei and Aypal: Building API Community Power. This page will remain up for a while, at least we can save some of the data. Thank you!

PROGRAMS TO KICK OFF 2020! 🙂 Apply now!!!

IWAY Wellness
Mondays | 4-5:30pm
Mental and emotional wellness is a growing topic being reflected upon by youth, and the IWAY Wellness program provides opportunity for them to express themselves through various artistic mediums and discussions. The IWAY program will be starting on January 27, 2020.

Boyz II Men
Wednesdays | 4:30-6pm
In a world where masculinity is heavily defined by what is seen in the media and society, it is difficult for teenage boys to grasp onto and take agency over their own identities without being influenced. Boyz II Men is a space for young men of color to explore identity and the systems that play into how they navigate the world. Sessions for Boyz II Men will be starting on January 29, 2020.

UPGRADE U
Thursdays | 4-6pm
AHS YP will be holding weekly workshops for youth working towards higher education and the workforce. The workshops will be focused on support and knowledge regarding higher education (college panels, applying to college, financial aid, etc.) and also be geared towards preparing youth through professional development (resumes, mock interviews, LinkedIn, etc.).

PEER LEADERS
Fridays | 4-5/5:30pm
$100 stipend for Peer Leader participants!
Peer Leaders is a great opportunity to discuss and plan projects around issues in health but also rack up volunteer hours for doing so! Program sessions will begin on January 10, 2020 and will cover topics including reproductive health, mental health, exploration in medicine, and more!

GLOW: Getting the Lowdown On Wellness
TBD
$150 stipend for facilitators!
The GLOW Project is an initiative we are working on to promote awareness and education around Substance Use, HIV, and Hepatitis C in the Alameda community. Requirements for GLOW facilitators are:
