I initially started this page to somewhat serve as an extension of my branding as Mam Interpreter. Initially it never got much traction and I just did not know the purpose of it besides just a name. For the people who found this page and gave it a like, I am very appreciative of your support and I would hope that your support will carry on as I transition into a new identity for this page. I am preparing for many important projects that I hope will benefit the Mam community specifically by supporting our interpreters. I do not know of the outcomes that this journey will lead to, but with the support of the community and most of all the people who have pushed me and competed with me to develop as a leader I will put it upon myself to develop new ideas in the ongoing movement for Language Justice. As such I hope to rebrand this page if Facebook would allow me but if not then I will leave this name for anybody who runs into this page. The new name shall be "Qyol Mam" and it reflects clearly that it is a Mam brand. The word Qyol itself means our language, our words in Mam. When we say "do you speak Mam" (Todos Santero dialect), we don't say "nyola tey Mam". We say "nyola tey tuj qyol"/"do you speak our language". Therefore Qyol Mam translates directly to Our Language Mam. With that quick Mam 101 lesson, I hope to capitalize more on the opportunities given to me as zero generation Mam immigrant and use it to further myself and my people's development.

Ancient Mayan languages are creating problems for today's immigration courts The day Vinicio Nicolas found out whether he would be allowed to stay in the United States, and hopefully far from the gang trying to recruit him in Guatemala, he brought along an interpreter.
