It's Thursday May 11, and we are urgently in need of dog adopters - if you're ready, stop on by Oakland Animal Services TODAY! We're open from noon to 7 pm with no appointment required for adoptions. Matchmakers are standing by, and we're waiving adoption fees from today through Sunday!
In addition to our shelter-resident dogs, we will have these adoptable dogs visiting (or on call) from their foster homes.
Check them all out and stop on by!

We need more dog fosters! Short term, medium term, long term, medical fosters, we need them all! Our shelter is full full full, and the more dogs we can get into foster homes, the better for all the dogs in our care! Even if you can only help out for a few days, that's a help to us!
We've got lots of different dogs looking for all kinds of fosters from active youngsters to snoozy seniors and everything in between!
Fostering a dog not only helps the dog that you foster, but also gives us space to help more dogs in the shelter.
Why foster? There are as many reasons as there are people, but here are some of the ones we love:
🧡 You're not in a position to make a long commitment, but want the companionship of a dog right now
🧡 You have some tennis balls that aren't going to fetch themselves
🧡 Your resident dog wants a friend
🧡 You want to help us get to know everything about a dog so we can find their perfect forever home
🧡 You want the joy of helping a dog in need
🧡 Your furniture doesn't have enough dog hair on it yet
🧡 You've always wondered what kind of dog you might love and fostering gives you a chance to learn
🧡 You need some help establishing a regular walking habit
🧡 You want to confirm there's a dog-shaped hole in your life by putting a dog in there
🧡 You really want to do extra laundry
Whatever your reasons, we'd love to help you learn more about our dog fostering program and needs. Submit an application at the link below to learn more. No commitment until you're ready to make a commitment!
Potential fosters can also join our foster group here. Please be sure to answer the screening questions when you request to join.

Oyster (pictured below) is a big boy at 72 lbs who is a total sweetheart of a dog who needs a foster. He's 3 yrs old and ready for adventure, he has done well with other dogs. Best in an active home with adults, as he could bowl over a youngster!
If Oyster's not your size or speed, we've got lots of different dogs looking for all kinds of fosters from active youngsters to snoozy seniors and everything in between!
