Hey everyone! Eva here! I just wanted to let everyone know that Fem Dems will be participating in a phone banking event for Ballot Measure A. We will be doing the phone banking in Downtown Oakland, On Tuesday April 17th, from 5-8pm.
Ballot Measure A is an amazing ballot measure for Early Childhood education. Supporting this measure will mean that you do so much to support early childhood education, families interested in ECE, and ECE providers. This will also be a great opportunity to network and meet people.

Hey everyone!
Eva, President of Fem Dems, here. February 23-25 is California Young Democrats(CYD) convention in San Diego. Mills needs a proxy to go and we currently don’t have anyone who is interested in going. Anyone who would be interested in proxying should email me at [email protected]. I would highly recommend going. This is a great opportunity for people interested in a career in politics to network. It’s also really fun. You also get to represent Mills and vote on CYD issues. I can also help connect you with transport and lodgings.

To Mills College and Fem Dems community
The events of the past week have left us shocked and stunned. Neo-N*azism, White Supremacy, homophobia, Islamophobia -any type of discrimination against anyone is wrong and unjust in every sense of the word. These are tough times. Yet, through these tough times we have to remain strong and stand together.
We have been in discussion over the meaning of allyship in political leadership this month. The hate-inspired rallies and violence this past year show that we need allyship now more than ever. And not just in politics. In every part of our everyday life. We need to come together in order to stop the hate and violence. Through educating ourselves and others about the injustices that are happening. Through organizing and supporting community gatherings that bring us together. Through being present and checking in with our communities affected.
As Mills College Feminist Democrats, one of our goals is to help create spaces that foster community. As we go on this year as student leaders, let us keep our minds and hearts open. We should reach out to those in need and continue to advocate for just policies as well as the abolishment of discriminating policies.
To the communities affected by Charlottesville and all hate-inspired actions/violence, we see you, we stand with you.
Sincerely,
Mills College Feminist Democrats

Hello Fem Dems!
Continuing on with our theme of Allyship, we want to spend the next few days talking about what allyship means in general. This article showcases 4 different perspectives about allyship and what it is about.

What does being an ally really mean? From hashtags to safety pins, there are many ways to show that you’re an ally of underprivileged people — but are these gestures meaningful or merely empty? Four Canadian journalists discuss.
