Communities of Oakland Respond to Emergencies (CORE) is a free emergency preparedness and response training program of the Oakland Fire Department.

CORE is a nationally recognized Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training program. For individuals who are not Oakland residents, you can identify similar programs near your zip code by visiting www.citizencorps.gov/cert.

The City of Oakland is offering Personal Emergency Preparedness workshops and free go bags with emergency supplies for registered participants completing the workshop. Workshops will include an opportunity to provide input into the 2026 Local Hazard Mitigation Plan.
