We had the pleasure to attend a California Association of Food Banks Food as Medicine session. Feeding America reports that neighbors who receive healthy food interventions show a 14% decrease in hospitalizations and 11% decrease in emergency visits. One more reason why your support is so important to the seniors of Alameda County!

We are so excited to announce the launch of food distributions at the Dublin Senior Center! Our first operation was a great success, serving over 45 when we only expected 15! This number is expected to grow even more as the word gets out.

A special shoutout to Kari, our new Development Manager, jumping in to assist!

Distributions at Dublin Senior Center will occur once a month on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 9:30-10:30 am! Please spread the word to any low-income seniors (60+) you know who may need food assistance, and visit our website for more information or to contact us with any questions!

This month, Pope Leo’s call to prayer centers on food insecurity — a message that feels especially meaningful during Older Americans Month. At a time of economic instability, supporting older adults facing hunger is more important than ever. Thank you to our incredible community for helping us continue to provide nourishment, care, and dignity to seniors throughout Alameda County.

Here are a few of our wonderful senior volunteers in action to brighten your week! They distributed bags full of fresh groceries to all 58 of Cottonwood's residents in under an hour!

We are so very fortunate to have the deep nonprofit experience, grant-making skills and overall knowledge and expertise of Dagmar Serota to call on as a member of the Advisory team at Mercy Brown Bag. We are indebted to all of our advisors, who enable us to do better in the community.

Our Mobile food truck had an amazing first day back at the Marina Community Center in San Leandro! This was made possible, as always, by our warm and friendly volunteers and team!

On April 1, Coalition hosted a press conference at ACCFB to condemn the cuts to food benefits and to urge state leaders to mitigate this harm in California by making humanitarian immigrants impacted by HR1 eligible for the state-funded California Food Assistance Program (CFAP) and continuing to fight for food for all in California! A special shoutout to these two sweet gals, Matilde and Lo**ta, who are volunteers at Eden Issei. They ensure every recipient leaves with a bag full of fresh groceries—and a smile!
