US bishops oppose GOP-backed ‘Secure the Border Act’ With the House set to vote on new immigration legislation, the U.S. Bishops’ Conference migration chair has urged legislators to oppose it, deeming it incompatible with Catholic social teaching and the nation’s commitment to humanitarian protection.

Diocese faithful are invited to say a prayer for the soul of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, and to attend Mass held in his memory.
Thursday, Jan. 5, 12:10 pm, Mass offered at Cathedral of Christ the Light, in union with the funeral Mass for the Pope Emeritus in Rome. Mass will be followed by the Rosary and Exposition of the Blessed , with Benediction at 5:45 pm.
Sunday, Jan. 8, 11 am, Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Michael Barber, SJ, in memory of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.
