Art Inspiring Community The Alameda County Arts Commission (ACAC) is a division of County of Alameda.

This civic organization was established in 1965 by ordinance of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors. The Arts Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors concerning the arts and cultural environment in the County. The cities and communities of Alameda County include Alameda, Albany, Berkeley, Castro Valley, Dublin, Emeryville, Fremont, Hayward, Livermore, Newark, Oakland, Piedmont, Pleasanton, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Union City, and other unincorporated areas.

The Alameda County Arts Commission invites visual artists to apply to be considered for public art opportunities at the future African American Wellness Hub in Oakland (AAWH). The art opportunities may include site-specific integrated artworks and the purchase, commission or license of small, medium and large two-dimensional or low-relief wall-mounted artworks. Artists are invited to submit examples of their past artwork. The African American Wellness Hub is a project of the County of Alameda and the Alameda County Behavioral Health Department. The new facility will contribute uniquely to African American health and wellness, and it will be centered on education, training, and treatment. It will be located at 1918 Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Oakland and will be open to the public in early 2028. The Alameda County Arts Leadership Awards Program is an excellent way to celebrate someone who deserves to be recognized for their important work in the Alameda County arts community! The Alameda County Arts Commission invites County residents to submit nominations for the 2026 Arts Leadership Awards Program. This annual program enables the Alameda County Arts Commission and the Alameda County Board of Supervisors to recognize five individuals for their outstanding achievements and contributions impacting the arts community and the residents of Alameda County.

You must be an Alameda County resident to submit a nomination. One nomination per person. The nomination deadline is Friday, May 15. To learn more and submit a nomination online please visit arts.acgov.org/advocacy

Call Open: California Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowships!

Kala Art Institute Kala Art Institute is administering the Bay Area region for the California Arts Council’s California Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship program, which supports the creative practices of artists at key career stages.

Bay Area Counties Served: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Sonoma

Awards: fellowships ranging from $5,000–$50,000
Tiers: Emerging, Established, and Legacy artists.

The Individual Artists Fellowship program uplifts and celebrates California artists across all disciplines and traditions, including but not limited to: the performing arts, visual arts, literary arts, media arts, traditional and Indigenous practices, interdisciplinary work, and socially engaged art.

Application Period: April 2 – June 5, 2026.
