Happy from ! The Oakland Firefighters are committed to 24/7 service. Service isn’t just what firefighters do, it’s who they are. It’s the early mornings, the missed holidays, the quiet goodbyes before every shift. It’s running toward uncertainty so others can find safety. It’s standing strong for a community, even on the hardest days. Thank you for all that you do!

Here’s a quick video of a member from T2 assisting an engine company to locate and extinguish fire trapped in the walls. Sometimes the fire can hide, that’s why it’s important to perform proper overhaul.

Oakland Fire Ops 101
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Oakland Fire Department (OFD), Local 55, and our dedicated members, and the elected officials who participated in Fire Ops 101 on December 10, 2025.
This event brought together over 30 elected officials who stepped into the boots of Oakland Firefighters for a day. They experienced the intense training and challenges our brave firefighters encounter daily, participating in various hands-on activities designed to simulate real-life situations.

The day included experiences such as:
- Burn Box: A live-fire training experience that demonstrated the complexities of handling fire emergencies.
- Auto Extrication: Learning the skills necessary for safe and efficient vehicle rescues in emergency situations.
- Heavy Rescue Breaching and Breaking: Gaining insight into the techniques used to rescue individuals from collapsed structures.
- ALS CPR presentation and hands on training
- Presentation on Health and Wellness
The engagement shown by all participants and elected officials underscored the importance of understanding the vital roles firefighters play in protecting our communities. There’s no better way to make informed decisions than to step into the shoes of those who bravely serve our residents every day.

Together, we can advocate for better resources, training, equipment and support for our firefighters, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge they need to protect us all.

just completed a week of rigorous training at Gaston College’s North Carolina Breathing Equipment School. This program is designed to push firefighters to their limits, both mentally and physically, under live fire conditions. This is another example of how the Oakland Firefighters are dedicated to always improving the service we provide to our community, traveling far and wide and gain knowledge and experience.
