Nonprofits nationwide are eligible to apply for grants of up to $100K to build or renovate sports facilities for youth in low-to-moderate income communities. New affordable housing opens at Legacy Court in North Richmond - Richmond Standard 04/14/2026

A new affordable housing community is now open in North Richmond.

Legacy Court brings 43 new homes for low-income families, including units with supportive services for residents experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Meet Noni Session, executive director of West Oakland-based East Bay Permanent Real Estate Cooperative (EB PREC), a land and housing investment fund helping lead the revitalization of the historic 7th Street Corridor, a stretch from Wood St. on the west to Brush St. on the east.

With support from LISC Bay Area and Kaiser Permanente, EB PREC has led the multi-year initiative 7th Street Thrives to improve infrastructure, lease commercial space, center collective community action, and restore cultural ownership in the area.

The initiative kicked off with the acquisition of Esther's Orbit Room, a historic arts and music venue. EB PREC celebrated a major project milestone in December, starting a year-long construction phase to renovate Esther’s Orbit Room into a community-owned arts and business ecosystem that honors the space’s cultural legacy.

Our 2024 Impact Report is here!

Last year, we deepened our roots in community. From investing $100M and advancing 185 new homes for seniors to building community with our neighbors and partners on 7th Street through our annual Black Earth Day and Resident Block Party, every effort brought us closer to a more resilient and equitable Bay Area.

In Oakland, The Center for ArtEsteem is transforming how local youth connect with art and wellness. With support from a LISC capacity building collaboration with Meta they’re fundraising to renovate their space and bolstered their staffing to offer youth a place to learn, grow, and express themselves through visual arts.

As they lay the foundation for future growth, they’re setting an example of how investing in better systems and people can lead to long-term community impact.

Art isn’t just about creating, it’s about healing, and this organization is helping to heal and empower future generations.

How about this for good news? LISC has been awarded $65M in New Market Tax Credits from the U.S. Treasury's Fund! This brings our NMTC investment in low-income communities—for everything from health clinics and child care to job creation and economic development—to nearly $1.3B over the past two decades.
