Construction Inclusion Week is a yearly opportunity to ensure we are doing our part to work towards a better trades industry. Building stronger construction communities is the responsibility of all involved, unions, contractors, consultants, and workers. LCG works to ensure that we are consistently engaged in community outreach, partnering with the businesses that are funding new builds, and networking with our local industry partners. Maintaining relationships across the pipeline is important as it means that we know the struggles, successes, issues, and resolutions that our peers are engaged in and to see how we can fit in. Our team works to ensure that we are all aware of what projects we support to cross reference information and brainstorm solutions. Collaboration within your own team is the most crucial part in creating a company that is focused on equity and growth. Construction Inclusion Week is a chance to review new information on how to strengthen your team. LCG is always looking for new ways to support our employees and to build community within our office so that we can be a better team out in the field. This CIW we thank our staff for their amazing work and look forward to more team building opportunities!

This Construction Inclusion Week the central question is "how do we attract and retain the next generation?" This is a question that LCG has been working to address for over 20 years. From career fairs, field trips, apprenticeships, and construction workshops, there are many ways to expose and attract younger workers to the construction industry. In our own team we ensure to train our employees and expose them to the many sides of working in construction. We have team members in project management, compliance, workforce development, and community engagement. Our team members have graduated from MC3 programs, been on the job site, and gotten college degrees. All of these experiences and skills are as diverse as the jobs available in this field. LCG works hard to ask; what can we do to build up the next generation of construction workers, starting in our own company?

Many of our community partners have been addressing this same question through providing pre-apprenticeship programs and mentorship which allows students to gain hands-on experience while learning how to navigate the hiring process. The construction industry needs new workers, and in order to grow the next generation, investments must be made in the youth TODAY to get them interested and prepared to start work in the trades. We appreciate all the training programs, career mentors, unions, construction companies, and involved tradespeople who are paving the way for a new generation.

We've been busy! Over the last few months our team has seen ribbon cuttings, tabled at community partner events, and had the privilege of seeing many students and trainees speak about their experiences learning in the construction trades. We always appreciate the opportunity to engage with the community and to support local organizations with their events and programming. There is much more in store for us in these upcoming weeks and we look forward to it all!

Happy National Tradesperson Day!

Approximately 34 million people work in the skilled trades sectors. In the construction trades, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics outlines 20 distinct occupations and lines of work. The trades are the backbone of our economy, yet the field of construction is facing a 349,000 person gap that needs to be filled. We at LCG are committed to bridging that gap through connecting skilled workers to new jobs in the trades in an effort to support an industry that needs new hires, fast.

This tradesperson day, we celebrate all those who are already working in the trades and those who are training to join. September is Hispanic Heritage Month! Did you know that 55% of the Construction industry in the Bay Area identifies as Hispanic? With such a large percentage of our industry being celebrated this month, it is important to take the time to uplift our community members, friends, and partners, and if you are Hispanic, to celebrate yourself and your cultural heritage! Tag your favorite Hispanic construction businesses and workers in the comment section, show them some appreciation this month!!!

Last week our team had the pleasure of attending the 2026 Women in Construction Conference in Sacramento. This 2 day conference is an opportunity for stakeholders and members of the construction community across various trades and job titles to come together and discuss ways to further gender equality and participation in the field. As part of our participation in this year's conference, we represented the Sacramento Airport at the Exhibition Hall. Visitors to our booth had the opportunity to speak with us about the CWTA agreement that we are working on with the new construction projects at the Airport. We appreciated everyone who stopped by and hope to return to the 2027 WIC conference!
