Danielle’s leadership has long reflected a commitment to public service, community voice, equity, and ensuring that people most impacted by policy and systems have a meaningful role in shaping them.

Her selection continues a tradition that BWOPA has championed for more than five decades: Black women bringing our leadership, lived experience, and expertise to the tables where decisions are made.

What’s on your ballot, and why should you care? 🗳️

BWOPA Oakland Berkeley is proud to join community partners for Breaking Down the Ballot, a community forum focused on the state, regional, and local measures Oakland voters will see this November.

Ballot measures can have a direct impact on our communities, but understanding what they actually do is not always simple. This forum is an opportunity to learn more, ask questions, and head into Election Day better informed.

BWOPA Oakland Berkeley is proud to partner with Councilmember Rowena Brown for a special stop on her 2nd Annual Community Engagement Tour: bringing City Hall to East Oakland.

On Friday, October 16, we’ll join Councilmember Brown, Council President Kevin Jenkins, Councilmember Ken Houston, and Black Cultural Zone at Sankofa Sanctuary for an afternoon of City resources, job opportunities, community connections, and more.

BWOPA will be there helping community members know your government, find your voice, and get connected. We’ll share practical tools for engaging with local government, advocating for the issues that matter to you, and staying civically engaged beyond Election Day.
