PARENT UPDATE, MARCH 23- APRIL 3, 2026
Dear Lincoln families,
Our CARE award winners have made us proud once again. These scholars were honored for their hard work, academic focus, community service and their outstanding demonstration of our school’s core values- collaboration, acceptance, respect and empathy.
Many thanks to Ms. Hung- Haas, Ms. Kusper, Ms. Leong, Coach Fern, parent leaders Judy Abe and Kasia Thomas, and Lincoln students and families, for representing Lincoln Elementary at the historic Bok Kai parade in Marysville, Ca on Saturday, March 21st.
Our MLK Oratorical Fest finalists have all won 1st and 2nd place prizes. It takes enormous courage to speak in front of a large audience in a district- wide competition. We are incredibly proud of them. Congratulation to Sydney, Eric and Hugh,, Denisse and Makenzie, Zara, Olivia and Ms. Hung- Haas’s class.

REMINDERS
Red shirts and closed toe athletic shoes
Please note that Lincoln red shirts or plain red shirts and closed toe, athletic shoes are our school uniform and are a safety expectation at our school. On Wednesday and Friday mornings, we have a parent leader running a shirt exchange program. We understand that our students outgrow school shirts rapidly. The parent leader is giving away clean, pre- used red shirts for students and parents who want them.
Independent Study procedure for families traveling during non school holidays
-Per OUSD policy, 15 days of Independent Study is allowed within the school year.
-Parents/ Guardians must collect the Independent Study form from Ms. Sandy, our Attendance Specialist, in the main office.
-Parents/ Guardians and students must adhere to the dates listed on the plan and students must complete all assignments for the independent study plan to count.
-Parents/Guardians, students, teachers, and the principal must sign the Independent Study Form.
-When students return to school, students must return the assigned packet back to the Attendance Specialist. The Attendance Specialist will bring the assigned packet to teachers for grading.
-Independent studies at the end of the school year cannot be supported because student work completed during the independent study period has to be returned to school, graded and accounted toward the last report card period before the last day of school, in order for the Independent Study plan to count .
-If you are planning summer travel, please make sure that you choose dates after the last day of school.
Lincoln is a walk- up school- please do not double park on 10th or 11 street
Please be safe at drop off and pick up. Lincoln is a walk- up school. If you are driving, please park your car and walk your students in and out of our campus. Please do not double park. The Alameda county sheriff’s office has been issuing tickets to double parked drivers.
Early pick- up procedure
With student safety in mind, we are asking that parents wanting to take students to appointments, must come into the main office, identify themselves to office staff, and then sign students out. After the appointment, parents must sign students back in. Please make sure that you plan ahead. Please do not double park and run in to pick up your student.
With collaboration, acceptance, respect and empathy,
Principal Sambrani
