GET YOUR OAKLEY PD PINK PATCH IN HONOR OF BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

The month of October is known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in keeping with tradition, the members of the Oakley Police Department are encouraged to wear pink uniform patches during October. Police officers wearing pink patches on their uniforms during this month dates back to approximately 2013 when the Seal Beach, California Police Department first wore pink patches to raise the awareness of breast cancer.

In 2016, the idea of wearing pink uniform patches began to spread throughout police agencies in Southern California and then beyond Southern California via an organization called the Pink Patch Project. In 2026 the Pink Patch Project has expanded to several hundred partner agencies and includes partners from police, sheriff, fire, EMS, and federal departments worldwide.

Oakley residents will see our police officers and our Records staff members adorned in pink uniform patches this month. We are also selling our pink patches for $10 each at the front counter of the Police Department (3231 Main Street). All proceeds of the sales of our patches during October will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Each sale will also be considered as an entry into a drawing we will have at the end of the month for a “Pink Patch” gift bag, which will include a pink OPD mug shown in the picture.
