📣 Kansas Department of Commerce Announces 7th Round of HEAL Grants! 🏡🏢
The Kansas Department of Commerce has announced the 7th round of the Historic Economic Asset Lifeline (HEAL) Grant Program!
Realizing the need to rehabilitate downtown buildings with funding that can be disbursed quickly and efficiently, the Kansas Department of Commerce created the Historic Economic Asset Lifeline (HEAL) program. HEAL focuses on projects that show potential as economic drivers in Kansas communities.
🏙️ The HEAL program is designed to bring downtown buildings back into productive use as spaces for:
🏪 New or expanding businesses
🏠 Housing
🎨 Arts and culture
🤝 Civic engagement
🧸 Childcare
💡 Entrepreneurship

🌟 It was great to see some familiar faces in Oberlin yesterday! 🌟

The Kansas Sampler Foundation was out and about exploring Decatur County yesterday, and we were excited to welcome Simone Elder and Frye to the office! 💙💛

They were amazed by all of the beautification projects and improvements that have transpired throughout town and enjoyed seeing firsthand the work our community is putting into making Decatur County a great place to live, work, and visit. 🌻🏡✨

We appreciate them taking the time to stop by and see what’s happening in our community!

The EDC & Chamber Office will be CLOSED August 24th–26th as we head to the 2026 Kansas Housing Conference! 🎉

And we have something EXTRA exciting to share…

🏆 WE RECEIVED THE FRIEND OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING SCHOLARSHIP! 🏆

Only THREE scholarships were awarded for this incredible opportunity, and we are thrilled to be one of the recipients! 🙌

Thanks to the amazing partnership and support from the City of Oberlin and Pioneer Country Development, we were able to secure the additional funding needed to attend this conference.

We’re headed to the conference ready to LEARN, CONNECT, and BRING HOME VALUABLE INFORMATION, RESOURCES & NEW IDEAS to help strengthen housing opportunities right here in Decatur County! 🏠💪

📚 Learning, Connecting & Bringing Ideas Home! 🌱

The Oberlin-Decatur County Area Economic Development Corporation recently had the opportunity to attend the Network Kansas KEYS Conference, and we’re home with plenty of new ideas, connections, and inspiration!

One of the most valuable parts of the conference was connecting with economic development professionals, entrepreneurs, and E-Community representatives from across Kansas. Sharing what’s working in our communities, learning from one another, and talking through challenges is a great reminder of just how strong our statewide network is. 🤝

We’re grateful to Network Kansas for the opportunity to participate in this conference!

There is always something new to learn, but some of the most valuable takeaways come from the conversations and relationships built along the way. We’re excited to bring these ideas, resources, and connections back to Decatur County as we continue working to support our entrepreneurs, businesses, workforce, and community.
