The Oceanside Police Department is here to ensure the safety and security of all people in the City of Oceanside by providing responsive and professional police service with compassion and concern. Our purpose is to work with the community to build trust and provide quality service that actively prevents crime, reduces the fear of crime and promotes safety. The Oceanside Police Department has an authorized budgeted strength of 226 sworn and 88 professional staff members, and handles approximately 75,000 calls for service each year. Our motto, "Service With Pride", speaks to our focus of quality customer service and efficient service. We are committed to public safety and to implementing innovative crime-prevention techniques to ensure a safe and healthy community. Our proven success is evident in the continuing decline of the City's crime rate, which hit a 30-year low in 2007, and in the positive customer satisfaction survey results. REMINDER: Surron electric dirt bikes are not street-legal and fleeing from the police isn’t “tuff.” It’s dangerous, it puts everyone on the road at risk.

Surron was seized as evidence during a search warrant related to a felony evading investigation — VC 2800.2.

The Oceanside Police and Fire Departments extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in last night’s REACH Air Medical Services helicopter crash.

Last night, a crew of REACH Air Medical Services went down in the ocean off Catalina Island while transporting a patient by helicopter.

For more than a decade, REACH 16 has been based at the Oceanside Fire Department Training Center. While no Oceanside Fire or Police personnel were aboard the aircraft, REACH crews have shared our facilities, trained alongside our first responders, and served communities throughout our region for years. They are part of our public safety family, and this loss is felt deeply here in Oceanside.

Our hearts are with everyone affected by this tragedy and with the entire REACH community during this incredibly difficult time.

We stand with the REACH family and all those impacted.

A faster response can make all the difference.

The Drone as First Responder Program (DFR) allows a certified OPD drone pilot to respond to appropriate calls for service often arriving before officers on the ground and providing real-time information to help them respond more safely and effectively.

The program also includes important privacy safeguards: drones are not used for routine patrols, every flight is tied to a specific call for service, and flight logs are available to the public.

Watch to learn how DFR works, the safeguards in place, and how the technology is helping reduce response times.
